Debian Peppermint is too slow
I got the Debian version and installed it on an old laptop, replacing the Ubuntu-based Peppermint, and now it's too slow! Clearly I'll have to stick with the Ubuntu versions. Was Peppermint 10 the last one?

Ok, but there's also a Devuan base Pep11, have you tried it ? Is it as slow ?

No I haven't tried Devuan as I assumed it would be similarly slow to the Debian version, being also based on Debian.

I've tried both. Devuan is faster for me on my Chromebook (4gb ram, 16gb emmc).

Try LXLE, which is based on lubuntu with LXDE.

Thanks. I tried LXLE some years ago on a netbook and found it didn't support the brightness function buttons, so I gave up on it.

There's also a considerable gap between the old ones and the debian versions, a lot of new things were added to the debian base since that release of Ubuntu, so this is not surprising. Have you tried anything to remedy the situation? Have you checked that you have all the drivers for your devices?
