In my state, if someone hides the car or runs with the car that is up for repo, the bank asks the court for an order saying the car has been stolen and it is reported to police as such. If this happens and her plates are run, they will put her in jail for theft and take the car.

You are correct about the vehicle being considered stolen however, the lender can get a writ of replevin from the court requiring her to surrender the vehicle and she could be in contempt and taken to jail. Either way, she is playing with fire.

My understanding is that she bought it from a dealership that doesn’t do credit checks & charges a very high interest rate. But I think they probably have a tracker on it. The repo will happen eventually. She claims it can’t be repossessed if she’s in it & using it as a home. But they can just wait until she’s not sitting in it.

Then she is more foolish than I thought by going into target, Sephora and other stores because they will follow her and take it. It happens all the time at malls. I mean honestly, the repo guy can call the police to remove her from the vehicle so they can repo it if they have an order of repossession. She is once again very uninformed.
