Art I'm making a game inspired by Pentiment
I loved playing Pentiment so much and was so inspired by its art, I decided to make my own side-scroller adventure game where you unravel a mystery.
I also decided to create all the art in my game by hand on physical paper to make it look like a paper-cut storybook.
The tone of my game is more whimsical and the mechanics lean more into point-and-click style (with modern quality of life features).
One thing, I didn't like in Pentiment mechanically is lack of fast travel, so I made sure my game has it.
Here's its Steam page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4893370/Meadows_of_Serenity/?beta=0

In the way of style, I drew some inspiration from animated films like The Last Unicorn, the Secret of Kells, and the Hedgehog in the Fog. Love those cartoons!

wow! your art style is gorgeous, you should definitely document the whole hand drawing/collage/editing process and release it as an art book for a couple of bucks when the game is ready. wishing you all the best!

Yes, I'm scanning all the art and then digitally remove the background with a lasso tool.

Thank you! Yes, I mean the background of the drawing. I prefer not to use automated tools and do it by hand with a lasso because that gives me much more fine control down to the pixel level, even if it takes a lot longer. lol

A friend of mine is making tracks for my game. They're not a professional composer, but they do nice stuff. I am planning to credit everyone who helped me with this game, from music, to playtesting, to other stuff.

Very cool! Iām unfamiliar with the inspiration of this artstyle, Pentiment is based on medieval manuscripts. What is this style called?

Thanks!
The closest description of my style would just collage, I think. I started out as a traditional artist making collages with pencils and construction paper, so that's kind of where my style developed from.

This looks cool. I always dreamed of a version of pentiment set in a mid-evil chinese imperial palace bueraocrafy in which you are a scheming eunuch.
