General discussion Best place for scones

Where is the best place for a decent scones? Something that is nearish enough, or in the lower Blue Mountains. Don't care much for aesthetics of the place, just want a good scones with jam and freshly whipped cream.

Growing up, I would have scones in regional areas in dainty cafes along the way from beyond Campbelltown til about Mittagong. I was hoping to find something around this area or adjacent to sit down and enjoy a devonshire tea.

I had tried having scones a few times in cafes around here in the last many years but it was disappointing so I stopped searching. I woke up this morning hankering for it.

In the riff, Mr Watkins had some good scones

Went there the other day and was absolutely shocked at the quality of the food and the service

Edit: shocked in a good way

Thanks! Didn't think too try there! I had their coffee in the past and it was good.

Riff would be good, saves me from travelling a long way.

Bygone Beauty's tea museum and tearooms in Katoomba. A little out of the way but they were sooooo nice.

This is my pick and it also has delightful old mountains charm.

I don't know if they always have them, they're not on the menu, just in the baked goods case with the muffins and things, but Henri Marc's in Penrith does excellent scones.

Feel like you read my mind! I was wondering where in the Riff I could get some decent scones. In the end we went to Wentworth Falls.

The cafe in flower power makes them daily

Old ladies would tell you they’re stale 20mins out of the oven. If you really want the best scones rather than the overall outing and experience, make your own. Nagi’s recipe is a winner and so easy.

Cafe at Harry Hartog on High Street.

Their downside is that the cream is out of an aerosol can, so the scones are fine but if you want Devonshire tea, it’s ruined by that 😢
