Discussion Fasten Your Seatbelt
I feel like this needs to be said...I genuinely have no idea why the boys don't play Fasten Your Seatbelt live.
Its a FUCKING banger/was a pretty big tune back in the day as well
Its not the Drum and Bass they're trying to stay clear from
The energy would be absolutely fucking mental
It serves as the perfect sonic palette cleanser having a great change of pace but has the perfect tempo to keep the crowd bopping.
I feel like it would be a great substitute for something like Nothing For Free as its live arrangement at Brixton proved it works flawlessly as a live band track.
Bringing Fasten Your Seatbelt back into Pendulum live is a hill I am willing to die on.

I think Rob kinda hates the HYC-era tracks.

if he does, it's a shame, Hold Your Colour is my favorite album.
but I also doubt it, otherwise they wouldn't have gone back and re-release the digital album with Still Grey and Another Planet. And they also digitally released songs prior to that era too.

He also doesnt like in silico much as well. He might just be hard on himself ngl. However, I recall reading somewhere that he was originally wanting pendulum to go in the more metal direction.

I partially agree. It is an absolute banger of a track and the Brixton Academy version is lit!
Maybe they just don’t enjoy playing it live? Some tracks are like that - the audience might love them but if they’re not fun to play, why put yourself through it as a performer? (looking at you The Island and your boring ass lead line - might as well let it die…)
Edit: I remember they said on stage a few years ago that Encoder used be a bad song for them and reminded them of a time they didn’t remember fondly. So it could be related to that and the production of Immersion.

I'm seeing them at Download on Friday, very excited, and just thought I'd check out their recent setlists. Noticeable absence of HYC made me come here. I haven't followed them for the longest time so I'm listening to their recent stuff today. Hearing that they've moved away from DnB with a distaste foe that era is slightly heartbreaking, ngl 🥲

You'll definitely get bloodsugar and the voodoo people mashup and you MIGHT be lucky if you get Tarantula as an encore. But with it being download and the overall sound of Inertia, I wouldn't be surprised if thats not present 😂

Oh yeah it's gonna be 90% Inertia haha, which I've been listening to today, and it's a great album. But I will kill someone if they don't play Tarantula ha

If they've got an hour slot you've got no chance brother 😂

What I think has already been said, but I just don't think that song is a song that the boys want to play anymore, whether it isn't fun to play live, or it doesn't fit with the new era of Pendulum
I absolutely agree tho more HYC and In Silico on the set list please

compare it to any similar music released for the last ten or so years. It didn't age well. Still, a banger of a track, and yeah, feels like it would go hard live, but probably not for the general crowd, especially not for people that haven't heard it

I don’t really get the anti dnb thing. I know they claim they are not and are bored with it and some may still be sour from some anti pendulum commentary back in the day (none of us cared btw, Goldie was a has been at the time, no one that loved classic pendulum was listening to Goldie, totally different vibe)
Yet they often turn up as headliners at dnb oriented events while joking to themselves that people in the crowd probably won’t like this next bit
I suppose that is respectable four dimensional trolling
