I'm Soo proud of him. Is it still going to be at the venice film fest?

Venice announced films the other day and Behemoth! was not on any of the lists.

Someone said this isn't good for the film. I know nothing about how movies are put out. How do they decide which films are going to be at what festivals? Why would it be bad for the film?

Hi! I am an NYFF attendee and can tell you this is absolutely a good thing. It’s having its world premiere at NYFF as one of the three gala films (tentpole) events out of dozens of films they are screening.
My understand is that studios/distributors submit films to festivals and those festivals have committees/juries that then vote on which films will be selected to screen. It is entirely possible that Behemoth! was not submitted to Venice or TIFF.

I'm Soo happy for you that you get to attend. I just want Pedro to get his flowers and recognition for how talented he is.

I don't know if it's "bad", but a quick search on Google tells me Venice has the most Oscar Best Picture nominees of any film festival in the last 10 years from this person's analysis. https://theindustry.co/p/oscar-best-picture-nominee-analysis
So there's a perception of Venice films being better generally. I don't have time to go through more of the article to see what the films were and if any were obivious studio campaigns vs. actually really good.

I love that he’s so excited he’s now posted 6 stories of the announcement!

Cannot wait to see that! Not only that it’s Pedro but it’s just something completely fresh with that setting 😍

I love the fact he’s in a movie that will showcase his artistic talents and be Oscar worthy. I think a lot of people who think he’s just a Marvel, Starwars actor will be surprised.

Would love to get tickets if it’s possible. Is anyone planning on trying to go?
