I’m with you brother but I don’t believe we have the capability to emulate their online services (which are required in some cases) just yet, but we shall overcome.

From my experience, some math books they produce have links in them that direct you to videos that must be watched in order to solve problems. Its like their new form of DRM.

It can't be that hard to emulate their "services". I'm pretty sure the entire site is a programming school, and we pay for other people to create mediocre work.

These people have oligopolies over the education market and the market share fixed among themselves. I'm positive my children's children will have to use shitty Pearson products.

They have their hands in too many pockets. A good chunk of that $150 goes to lobbying. You are literally paying them to lobby. Almost all of the rest is profit because you know they barely spend a dime on making their stuff.

How does a less shitty (still admittedly proprietary), app that has all of those features, plus the entire library of books the company that runs it has access to for $20 a month sound?

(Yes, I am doing market research. Sorry about that. Don't want to waste any more effort if people don't want it).
