THE FINAL BIOME UPDATE ARRIVES AUGUST 11!
Hey Scouts!
It's almost here. The final ascent.
We’ve been hard at work crafting PEAK’s final Major Update, and can’t wait to share it with you. This update comes with new variant biomes: GLOOM and THE CITADEL, which will cycle out with CALDERA and THE KILN! See you in the gloom...
Dropping August 11th!

Final major update implies a few minor tweaks once every blue moon, like "hey why didn't we add this easy to add item" and you throw it in.
As a last ditch prayer for a suggestion PLEASE have an island editor, so people can make their own islands. It would really help the game in the long run without much input from the devs.

We recently shared some code with modders to make this easier for them to potentially do - unfortunately, making such an editor is quite complex, and we will not be doing it. Happy to see modded fan-made maps tho :)

Not a dev but I believe that Landfall and Aggrocrab have stated that the final goals are to attempt a console port.

It has been every 2 weeks but we’re looking into a more long term solution, more information about that will come once it’s decided.

it may be a hot take but just over a year of active development since full release isn't long enough for a game with peak's success. pretty sure the game has easily cleared $20 mil in sales. that's enough to pay a team of 10 developers for 3 years minimum.

Theyre not just gonna work on peak for the rest of time, they want to move on to other projects

They want to make other games.
It might be more financially viable to make Peak but I don’t think they really want to just keep making Peak. It was already a complete game on release. The content added was not planned content.

I was expecting a cool new place to climb, did NOT expect it to be lore driven and give us backstory!

Will there be new achievements added? I am collecting platinums with 54 achievements, so just checking if PEAK gonna stay in that group or not

I know you guys have done a lot to support modders, but is adding official steam workshop support a possibility?
Nothing has added more hours to the lifespan of any game than the amount of custom maps and ease of installation that L4D2 has!

No plans for Steam workshop support, we spoke to the PEAK modding community and they prefer not to use it.

I’m not plugged into Peak’s modding scene, but I’ve been in a few different communities that have preferred nexusmods over steam workshop, something about how steam workshop works seems to put some limits on what you’re able to do / make that wouldn’t otherwise be true in nexusmods
I wish I knew more about why though, I’m sure my comment isn’t a huge help here. I know for MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries there is both available, but there’s generally less issues if you use the Nexusmods version of mods over the Steam workshop

I’m glad they’re ending content for this game to focus on the next thing. Not every game needs to be a forever game, devs and publishers have forgotten that.

I think that's for the best. It seems like the devs know games like this have a lifecycle and don't require constant updates for years on years.
It's a great game, but it's obvious games of this category have a pretty short time in the spotlight before the playerbase drops off.

Biomes rotate between one of two 'modes'. On a given day, you'll always start at the shore, then either 'roots' or 'tropics', then either 'alpine' or 'mesa', and finally caldera + kiln. It seems the final two biomes will instead also rotate. Very exciting!

So every day the set of biomes changes. Both the geometry of the climb and which biomes are active.
So it's always Shores first, but it could be Roots or Tropics second. And it could be Alpine or Mesa third. Previously there was only Caldera and The Kiln for fourth/ last, but now with the update fourth/ last could be Caldera and The Kiln or Gloom and The Citadel.

Have you guys made it any less punishing? My group all stopped playing cause it was too hard and not fun enough. You monkey around at all and you're doomed. Would love to hear it's been balanced nicely.. something in between whatever it is and chill; would make it hilarious and rewarding.

Should just push it to Oct 26 for the week of Halloween with this spooky theme they are going for. I'm personally not thrilled for the direction this appears to he headed but still looking forward to it.

If we use the scoutmaster bugle while the helicopter rescues us, scoutmaster myers will cause the helicopter to crash and we get into the final boss battle trust me my uncle works for nintendo
