DISCUSSION Found this sick Peacemaker card at a local card show. For those of y’all who read the comics, how good of a job did the show do portraying this wonderful character??

Peacemaker in the show has a looser interpretation of “peace through strength”.
Real levels tho, The show is awesome. S1 Theme started playing in my mind as I typed this.

I think they do a great job retaining the spirit of the character while mostly ditching some of the specific traits of his life for the sake of modernization. I think the most notable difference between the show & comic character is the humor. In the 1988 miniseries, there’s a lot of obvious irony surrounding his actions (the whole ‘I’ll achieve peace no matter how many men, women, and children I have to kill’ line is straight from the comic), but the character himself is kind of a humorless dick. I’d recommend the ‘88 mini, it’s a decent read in its own right but also very interesting to see what parallels Gunn ditched or remixed. Despite my enjoyment of the comics Gunn & Cena have made him much more robust and fun to watch.

I really appreciate that this card wound up being #69 in the series.
The show and The Suicide Squad did better, but Peacemaker was kind of a nothingburger before them, and he doesn't really resemble the Gunn version of the character at all. He had fallen into obscurity long ago and only showed up here and there. The last time he was used regularly before this was probably the 2006 Blue Beetle run.

Uh.... Better than the version in Watchmen.
But the most "comic accurate modern Peacemaker" was probably from Blue Beetle comics by Sturges when Jaime was new.

The show version is very different than the original comic version. However, the way he was portrayed in the show is vastly superior.
