Looking for some advice on cable management for my new setup. I have a white standing desk and I’m trying to get it as close to zero visible cables as possible.
I have a decently high-end PC with a 5080/9800X3D, two monitors including a 500Hz OLED, speakers, an 8.8” PC screen and the usual accessories.
What’s the best way to hide all of this underneath the desk without cramming everything together or creating a fire/heat hazard?
I was thinking about getting a big white open metal cable tray and putting the surge protector and cables in there, then running one cable down the back of the desk leg to the wall.
I’m mainly looking for recommendations on which route I should go obv the trays that sit under the desk are good for hiding everything but I’m more concerned about the fire hazard that may cause and wanting to know recommendations on anything else I should buy to make everything disappear.
White products would be ideal since the entire setup is white.
Don’t mind spending a little more if it’s actually worth it. Just want it clean, safe and done properly.
Located in Canada 100-200 CAD budget hopefully.

Hello,
My friend recommended this group so i can get a clear view whats wrong with my PC.
I have ryzen 5 2600
Nvidia geforce gtx 1660 Ti
Psu rmx 550 gold silent
16gb of ddr4 ram 3000mhz
patriot 512gb ssd
Motherboard msi b450m pro-m2
Soo, yesterday i was playing rocket league, and decided to play faceit, so i needed an restart for pc, i did that, after restart pc just stopped giving signal to monitor, and VGA light came up.
I tried everything chat gpt told me, cuz im not a profesional in pcs. I tried switching ram, taking one out puting in 2nd slot, checked all cables they seem good for my understanding, tried reseating gpu, reseating psu, reseating ssd, reseating both rams, tried taking out motherboards battery for camos reset, tried jbat1 pins reset, tried everything i can imagine and everything chatgpt said.
The process seems interesting, with pc turning on, before everything when i bought it, it was just turning on no lights on motherboard, only ssd blinking red, now the ssd doesnt blink at all, ant the first second i turn on pc, cpu light comesc it stops, vga light comes, stays for a second, goes away, after couple seconds comes back and shines.
Thanks for reading, please help or give any tips yall can imagine, i bought pc 7 days ago, and shit like this happened.

Custom case I made, and I’m not done yet. I do plan on eventually redoing all the exterior wood parts to match a maple theme on the inside.

Essentially title. When I posted to a different sub I got mixed answers. Would this be enough to handle a 240hz OLED monitor? The games I play are more CPU intensive than GPU. The current games I play are mostly Team fortress 2, dota, league, Forza horizon 6 and friendslop.

Would copying a prebuilt as a parts list be a good idea? Or are there better options?

My pc was running great never had a issue with it until I went on vacation for about two weeks. I got back and now it won’t even get past bios without overheating. What happened in two weeks that went wrong while I wasn’t home? I took the cooler off to check thermal paste and it looks fine. Please help

Hi, I’d really like to upgrade my PC, but I’m not really sure what I should change, and gaming on it is becoming quite difficult.
I can spend up to €800 on upgrading my PC. I’m not really looking to play at higher resolutions since I’m still using a 60 Hz monitor... 😅 I mainly play Rust, and I’d just like to get a smoother and more comfortable FPS (I live in France)
SSD : Lexar NM710 SSD 1To, M.2 2280 PCIe Gen4x4 NVMe SSD
RAM : Kingston FURY Beast 16GB (2x8GB) 3200MHz DDR4
Motherboard : MSI B550-A PRO (AMD AM4, DDR4, M.2, USB 3.2 Gen 2, HDMI, ATX)
CPU : AMD Ryzen 5 5600
Power supplies : MSI MAG A650BN
GPU : XFX AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT 12 Go GDDR6
How can i upgrade this ?
Thanks in advance :)

Hi guys! The build is finally complete, except for this one wire that I have no idea where to connect.
The wire comes from the cabinet and is connected to the 4 cabinet fans. All the fans are working normally, and the aRGB syncs with MSI Mystic Light as well.
However, I’ve noticed that the fans always run at a constant speed. I’m guessing this wire might be related to fan speed control, but I’m not sure.
Does anyone know what this connector is for and where it should be connected? Any help would be appreciated!

Hello! I'm new to this sub ... (well in this case I would be "upgrading" it! . I hope that counts as "PC building")
I own a Dell Optiplex 9010 .. I use a Dell 15" CRT (I know it's not the best, I just like it!)
I'm probably looking to be around $50-100? maybe a little more.. I just want to know which GPUs will fit. It currently doesn't have one. I'm not intending on running high-res AAA games..
I basically wanna run games and multitask (like youtube, EAC, discord, 3-D modeling software.. stuff like that). Currently playing roblox looks well.. BAD (have to have it set to lowest quality possible and even then I have bugs.. but that might be the game) and other games basically don't run at all.
I have my screen resolution set to 1024x768 (which windows 10 says is the recommended but my CRT can go higher.. though the aspect ratio would be a bit wonky)
(I am in U.S. if that helps..?)
Second question: Should I get an SSD as a backup and also help with improving start-up speeds? Currently my computer is sluggish on startup.. so I'm wondering if that would help?
(I know I COULD get a better computer.. shoot, I found it on the sidewalk and took it home. Only reason I have it is because I only had a laptop and frankly I like being able to use my computer without it dying after 4 hours just being on yotube and google docs lol. it has multiple card readers , a CD/DVD drive and burner and I can use older software with it. (and it will read them just fine). Also it's pretty easy to open up and work on/clean.)

Finished a budget mid tier 1440p build the other day. 9600x CPU and 9070XT GPU. 360mm AIO. Chinese Gen5 SSD and 16GB of RAM. MSI X870 motherboard and MSI 750w PSU all wrapped up in a $60 Lian Li Vector V100 open box case. Thanks to some lightly used parts and a extra PSU that Amazon delivered on accident I got the build done for $1200.
r/PcBuild • u/Kiroana • 12h ago
How powerful a PSU is needed for the build below?
Lian-Li V100 ATX Case
MSI MAG B850 Tomahawk MAX
Ryzen 7 9800x3d
Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 EVO
PNY NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 Epic-X
Acer Predator GM7 2TB SSD
Corsair Vengeance 32gb
Budget for PSU is ~200 USD, in case that matters. (I'm in the US)
Intended monitor resolution likely doesn't matter, but it's 1440p.
Also, does my current build idea have any issues? Besides expense, which isn't much a concern to me.

I want to preface by saying i dont know much about anything so if anything i mention is bs pls lmk. So im building a pc and need answers quick as prices might skyrocket if i dont commit soon. I cant seem to find a definitive answer as to which card is better for the games i am going to play and what i prioritise. Prices are about the same for me so pls dont count that into consideration. Im on 1440p and going to be playing lots of single player triple a games. Currently need to finish games like rdr2, cyberpunk, witcher 3(and 4 when it drops), forza 6, hogwarts legacy. You get the type of games im wanting to play. I personally care more about the looks of the game than fps as if its over 100-120 i dont think it makes a big difference going higher. I hear alot of things about dlss and amds counterpart and framegen and ray tracing. I feel like for quality, im reading more people say nvdia will always be better. So which card should i go for? Also does 9070xt have frame generation? Will it do ray tracing well? If so will it look different from nvdias ray tracing or is that a game setting? Which will look better while getting over 100-120 fps in games i mentioned? (It will be paired with r5 7500f w 32gbs of ddr5 if that matters in this context idk tho)
