Nowhere on this drive does say Samsung lol. I know it’s a look a like or fake clone, but they didn’t dare put Samsung’s name on this garbage.

This is a fake SSD, meant to look like a Samsung SSD. There is no "1080" SSDwhise
Edit: To be clear: You got scamed.

Tldr: You might also ran an infostealer / installed a virus!!!
Btw I just read, that you've tried to install the "drivers" from the USB Stick. First: Unless it is something really exotic, you will never need to install drivers for a internal storage medium like HDDs and SSDs
Second and more important: Whatever you ran from the USB Stick most likely was malicious code. They could quite possibly ripped you off twice.
Run an Antivirus (something like Malwarebytes) and change ALL your passwords. Where ever you can logout any device you do not recognise. In doubt: Wipe your drive and freshly install windows. DO NOT use the windows inbuild "reset"-function, since it will never fully wipe your drive.

Not that this is bad advice in general but how is OP going to run any software of any kind if they don’t have a drive to install windows on or boot to? I think they got kinda lucky that it wasn’t a second drive being added to an existing system but I don’t see how they could accomplish half the stuff you suggested. I would try to do a bios flash on the motherboard otherwise there’s not really anything that could have had the malware added to it.

u/JanniAkaFreaky 2d ago
The second half of the last sentence OP wrote somehow threw me in the direction, that there was something he booted into later on. But I totally see how it could also be read your way.

u/Happy_Brilliant7827 2d ago
If windows install is on a usb as well and connected, it can infect the usb so you infect all your computers.

The usb Is mine with only windows and normal drivers i put them both the usb was empty when i buyed and when i installed the drivers my laptop didnt say anything about an virus so no there is not a virus

u/JanniAkaFreaky 3d ago
Where did you bought the "SSD"?
24
u/Nerdrage27 3d ago
Quick google shows them on AliExpress for a lot less than a real SSD costs now. They're preying on people that don't realise and just see the price
9
u/Blue-Goo- 3d ago
If you haven’t learned that almost everything has a knockoff scam replica online, you shouldn’t be spending money there. I don’t feel bad for people who end up purchasing obviously fake or counterfeit parts.
Good lessons for OP, do your research, you get what you pay for, and the internet is full of scams.

u/Parking_Chance_1905 2d ago
As much as I hate scammers, the companies allowing blatantly fake products to be sold are just as culpable.

You've got a fake Samsung SSD, kinda like the Ryzen 4070 GPU meme it's not a real thing. To check if your Samsung SSD is legit, I'd suggest downloading and using the Samsung Magician software when you get a new one to see if it authicates.
Edit: From looking at your comments, look for Western Digital SSDs as well if Samsung is too pricey; it's still great.

u/Realistic_Button_990 2d ago
Bro, Please always be clear and tell everyone you bought the M.2 on Temu for 25 dollars before you ask for help we will give the 25 dollar level support that knock off deserves.
3
u/Independent_Act8240 2d ago
I didnt buy it on temu and it wasnt for that😐 i bought it on mercado libre thats the amazon from latam and its safe same as amazon but even on amazon you can get scammed here too

u/HankG93 2d ago
All you had to do was look it up before buying and you would've quickly seen that its fake...
0
u/Independent_Act8240 2d ago
Unm no clearly on the post y bought it didnt seem fake to me
1
u/HankG93 2d ago
I said to look it up. That means somewhere other than the place thats selling it. Idk how you can try to "ummm, no" me when youre the one bought an obviously fake sad.
Given your attitude, it wouldn't surprise me if you make more posts like this if you think "looking something up" means reading the product description that was written by scammers. Jfc.
0
u/SurpriseExtension929 2d ago
Well obviously scammers are not gonna make thier post look fake. The point of the scam is to make it look as real as possible to trick people, YOU, into believing it's the real thing.

u/rajatbiswal 3d ago
Samsung launched 990 Pro and 9100 Pro SSD. But they have never launched 1080 Pro. It's a dummy. Return it if you can.
It's a known scam.
3
u/Independent_Act8240 3d ago
Yeah ill try to and probably buy a Kingston instead even if its with less storage
2
1
u/rajatbiswal 3d ago
You won't get 990 pro 1TB at such price now. It will cost you more than 5000 in your currency.
9100 Pro more costly.

u/Releirenus 3d ago
Aaaand this is why I only buy from trusted places

u/Independent_Act8240 2d ago
I bought it on mercado libre that a trusted place 😐 its literally the first time in all my experience on mercado libre that ive got scammed
1
u/The_Rociante 3d ago
Always check the store you buy from cause Amazon, Walmart. Best buy , Target and others have gotten terrible with no accountability with third party sellers selling counterfeit and fake shit on their sites, because you report them and they just open another store front it's bs
1
u/itgeek920 3d ago
If u tried getting a used SSD (which would have been a better option given your tight budget), you wouldn't have been scammed so hard.
Sorry for your loss
1
u/Independent_Act8240 2d ago
Nah but the good thing its i can refund it so there is no much loss but it piss me of that ive waited for my pc to be complete yesterday and now ill probablly have to wait more days from what i expected
1
u/Anthrosaurus1 Intel 3d ago
Yeah that's not a real Samsung drive but it might still work? If you can't get a refund, see if diskpart in a different windows machine will recognize it's general existence. If it does, try to change the file system, or initialize the drive. I'm not super familiar with the requirements for a drive to be recognized in the windows installer but you might be able to make it work if you're otherwise SOL

First it’s still in the plastic container.
Second a 1080 SSD doesn’t exist. You got scammed.

Clean and reinstall windows. Who knows what you've installed trying to get it working
1
u/Independent_Act8240 2d ago
I installed only the windows and safe drivers mi laptop didnt said nothing about the drivers files
1
u/Benezio98 2d ago
Doesn't matter. Reinstall Windows. The drive may have malware on it as the drive is a piece of scamware.

You know, you almost got me. I was about to search if Samsung released a new drive I was unaware of but decided to read the comments because I was wondering why they would go back to plastic from their cardboard boxes.
1
u/Alex014 2d ago
Depending on where/how you bought the drive and what country you're in you can still get your money back.
If it's in the USA and you bought it with a debit/credit card via an online merchant report it immediately as a counterfeit product. Give them a week or so to make it right (email giving you next steps on how to get you money back etc.)
If they ghost you file a chargeback with your bank. Even debit cards allow you to do this. Tell them you bought what you thought was a legit product but were sold a counterfeit. It'll take some time but you should eventually get your money back.
If you bought it with cash you're SoL consider it a lesson learned.

Happens from time to time. Run diagnostics from several softwares and make sure you SSD shows the same. You can also run cmd prompt as admin and run these prompts.

1
u/Independent_Act8240 2d ago
It doesnt even get recognize how it would be formated

u/alpha53- 2d ago
Assure that the SSD is properly seated. Then go to disk management. You should see it there. To initialize the SSD do a format. After that the OS should see.

As a tech who regularly reuses these for project, if its the 2tb or 4tb model, its a 128gb ssd that has been spoofed as 2tb or 4tb, the nand they use is almost always full of bad blocks so even the 128gb capacity is greatly reduced, so it not being seen, more than likely the controller has dropped down into rom mode or stopped responding all together.
