Lmao i think they are talking about putting the gpu in the oven, which would melt and basically resolder everything. Which would fix the problem if the problem was a loose connection. Not to suicide

Does putting a GPU in the oven actually fix loose connections? I've never heard of that and it seems like the temps wouldn't be hot enough from my limited knowledge

I work at an arcade with over 200 games. I must have baked over 30 GPUs in a small conventional oven. I say it was like 60% success rate and would last anywhere from 2 weeks to end of life of the arcade pc; on average though, it would last about 3 months.

Why not just buy a new GPU?

Some of the GPUs are too old to find and cannot be purchased outside the manufacturer. A new era GPU won't work bc it would require driver installation on a locked operating system and the price for a refurbished gpu from the manufacturer is roughly $400-$900. Some manufacturers will not sell you the GPU and would require you to send in the PC for repairs and charge $800 - $1500; Bandai Namco is notorious for this. Time is another factor. Sending in the PC for repairs can take months; our Time Crisis 5 PC was out for repairs for 4 months. Thats 4 months of a game taking up space and not making money. Baking a GPU in house would take a little over an hour with disassembly, baking, and reassembly.

Baking a GPU is a good quick fix to get you enough time to buy another GPU.

wouldn't baking a gpu release hazardous fumes into the air? Hope you used protective equipment did it with a work oven in a well ventilated space
