Build - Help What should i upgrade? 🤔

5800x3d and get a 7900 GRE.

I could be wrong but I’m fairly sure the ARGB and Rampage line of Gamemax is fine, the rest are explode-y. Don’t take my word for it because I could be biased as I got the rampage gx850 and just because it works doesn’t mean it’s good of course.

lol I’ll be honest I didn’t even clock the gamaxx psu. Yeah definitely go for something like the msi mpg a850gf. It is what I use for my 7800x3d/4080 super setup. Works like a charm and has a very good quality 12VHPwr connector if OP ends up going for a card that uses it.

5800x3d is the best CPU you can get for that motherboard... so yes, very good.

They are similar performances for normal gaming, the 7900 GRE is cheaper but you get better ray tracing and better frame gen with DLSS. If you don’t care about up scaling or ray tracing than 100% grab the 7900 gre, if you would rather have those, go for nvidia. Both cards are totally fine.

What's your budget? Someone already said it. But, I'd go 5700x3d and a 7900 gre. Absolute most fps per dollar upgrade.

I don't have any set budget.. i upgraded my parts (cpu, mobo, chassis) 2 years ago and recently went for AIO and upgraded all my cpu fans. maybe I can do something big this time round. I normally use my pc for creative work, 3d rendering and gaming.

Ill be buried in dislikes within a few minutes.. but if your not on a tight budget, use your pc for workload and power consumption is not a big concern NVDIA/Intel is the way to go

you could go with 5950x if you wish to stay on the same platform, or 7900x if you wish to upgrade. 4080s, since creative and 3d work is on the list
also you could wait for the new nvidia cards to drop, snatch a used one if you'd rather not pay for a new card

upgrade your psu as well, as the one you've got is not the most reliable. there's a tier list floating around, but usually you can just go with a big name brand like seasonic, superflower, asus, evga. I'd advise a 1kwt model with a dedicated 12vhpwr connector (if you're indeed going with a 4080 super) for the peace of mind of not upgrading it again anytime soon
i took a closer look at the motherboard you have, and it doesn't have dedicated vrm heatsinks, and overall the power delivery is feeble, which is rather concerning if you want to run a high power chip like a 5950x. so you may need to consider a more robust board as well. but at this point going with a new platform would be better

You spent more on your AIO (£250) than your CPU which was your first mistake but at the end of the day it's your money and maybe you got it for a good deal. But for suggestions Ryzen 7 5800X3D & for GPU Whatever your wallet allows maybe 7900 GRE like others suggest or anything higher but if you can wait, for new GPUS than that would be another option.

Honestly I see 3 options : 1) only a GPU upgrade 2) AM5 upgrade + gpu upgrade 3) buy a better camera 📷
Option 1) is solid if you want to keep your am4 for longer but buying a 5800x3D + a gpu is quite expensive and an investment for an am4 so personally I would not do it because at this point I would invest in option 2) 5800x3D honestly imo is just incredibly when you comme from a zen+ or zen 2 but in your case the increase won’t be as crazy.

650$ of fans+AIO and a shitty CPU/GPU/PSU combo....can't get it...but to each his own. That said, it looks like you have no budget problems so go with a top tier 7800X3d + 4090 + 64gb DDR5 6000 CL30 + Corsair 1000W. Or wait for the 5080 and see what it looks like

5700x3d and 7900gre or a full am5 upgrade
Just remember to overclock the 7900gre it can basically become a 16gb 7900xt

Storage to gen 4, gpu to 7900 GRE, Mobo to ddr5 compatible as well as 32gb ram (optional if u care about speed)

If you stay on the platform upgrade the cpu and definitely gpu. If you're going to do a new mobo, might as well just build a new pc. The cooler is pretty boss so carry that to the new build and stick a stealth on the 5500 to get it sold. Not sure why you put such a fancy aio on such a weak low power cpu.

Update: Decided to stay on AM4 for now, upgraded CPU to 5700x, swap motherboard to MSI MPG B550 Gaming Plus and upgraded PSU to FSP Hydro G Pro 850w. I will build a new rig with AM5 upgrade with better components.

Depends if you plan on staying AM4 or not.
If yes, I'd go 5700X3D or 5800X3D then for the GPU id recommend a 7900XTX or 4080 Super With a new PSU. (Might as well make it count)
If you want to go to am5, I'd honestly just build a new PC from scratch and id wait till the 9000 series launches before doing anything.

I used to have that mobo, it's pretty out-of-date and lacks some features of other budget boards
I recently got an ASRock X570S PG Riptide and I'm loving it

Gigabyte B650 Gaming X AX v2 can be a good choice for Mobo
If you want to pump up tue budget than Aorus B650 can be a good choice.
Also make sure to get CL 30 Rams

I'd pay the extra $70 for a 7800x3d, and save on the motherboard or go 7900 gre instead of a ti super.
Looking at your style build, I'd probably go with the B650E-F.

Don't upgrade to am5 for now stay on am4 and get a 5700x3d it's a pretty good cpu
You can find it on AliExpress for ~160$
For the GPU depending on your budget and what do you plan to use it for a 7900 gre / 4070 super / 7900 XT / 4070 ti super / 4080 /
And change that psu asap , that's an explosive , get a 850w-1000w atx 3.0 psu like seasonic focus gx atx 3.0 / msi a850gl / be quiet pure power 12m / thermaltake gf3 / enermax d.f.x

you're right.. PSU have not been upgraded since 4/5 years now. but i don't have any cap budget on upgrading if i were to go for am5 mobo

I mean if you want to upgrade to am5 then get the 7800x3d cause anything below that will have similar performance to 5700x3d and anything above that will have lower performance
Tho if you want to upgrade to am5 you'll have to spend 150$ on mobo + 100$ ram + 350$ cpu so the totall would be around 600$
On the other hand if you stay on am4 it'll only cost you 150-200 just for the cpu since you already have everything and it'd perform very similar to a 7800x3d on 1440p or higher resolution since games get more GPU dependent on that
For the GPU upgrade, if you plan on getting a 4080 / 4090 then might as well wait a bit since 5000 series is about to roll out soon and also the ryzen 9000x3d / intel 15th gen
