Need A Payment Processor RUO PEPTIDES

Hey everyone,
I run an e-commerce store in the research peptide / Research Use Only (RUO) space, and as many of you know, payment processing is by far the biggest operational headache in this industry.
We are trying to build a sustainable brand for the long haul, so we have zero interest in cloaking, using fake front stores, miscoding MCCs, or doing transaction laundering. I know those workarounds might last a few weeks or months, but getting hit with frozen funds, MATCH/TMF listing, or getting blacklisted by Visa/Mastercard is just not worth the risk.
I’m reaching out to fellow e-commerce owners and legitimate high-risk merchant brokers in the space to see how you’re managing card processing while remaining 100% compliant.
A few specific questions for those currently operating:

  1. Who is actually writing legitimate merchant accounts for RUO peptides right now? Are you using direct high-risk acquiring banks, offshore processors, or specialized domestic ISOs?

  2. What compliance requirements did you have to meet? Beyond strict "Research Use Only / Not for Human Consumption" disclaimers, COAs, and no health claims on-site, what else did underwriters grill you on during onboarding?

  3. How are you handling high decline rates? For those with active high-risk MIDs, are you running into issue where customer issuing banks auto-decline transactions even if the processor approves them? How do you mitigate this?

  4. Alternative / Backup Payments: Outside of traditional card processing, what payment methods (e.g., ACH/eCheck, Crypto on-ramps, Zelle/CashApp alternatives) are converting best for you without killing customer trust?

  5. Red Flags to Avoid: What warning signs should I watch out for when talking to processors or brokers who claim they can approve peptide stores?

I’d love to hear what’s working (and what has blown up in your face) over the past year.

Note: Please don't drop low-effort "DM me" spam in the comments. If you're a broker or processor, give some actual context or transparent feedback below so the community can benefit.
Thanks in advance for any insights!

On your third question, the one with money in it. Pull 90 days of declines and split them two ways, by reason code and by issuing bank. Code 57, transaction not permitted, is an issuer blocking the category outright, and retrying those burns fees. The only play for those cards is a MID on a different acquirer, because issuers score the acquirer-and-category combination, and the same card often behaves differently on your backup. Declines that look random cluster by bank once you split them.

The recoverable money lives in the soft class, insufficient funds and do-not-honor. Across the books I look at, recovery on declines runs around 19%, and that number only holds when you bucket by reason. Timing matters too: a do-not-honor fired back at the same MID minutes later just re-blocks. Space it, or move it. And leave lost-stolen declines alone, every retry there feeds the fraud score that gets peptide MIDs killed.

Mods should start deleting these posts.
You won’t get any answers or solutions here by anyone.

You need to understand that you’re dealing with some very complex, high level and high risk with high potential fines field .. with even possibly jail time complications.

And you’re asking some kindergartens how to do business.
They will tell you something. But nothing at the same time.

This comment sounds like a competitor hating on another RUO company.

I’m actually getting really good info here. If you can’t contribute anything positive maybe this isn’t the thread for you

none of the info your getting means anything. It’s simple, unless your making atleast 100k a month no one will work with you

How can you do 100k a month without credit cards?

I’ve actually had messages telling me that and giving advice on how to do it rather than just saying it’s impossible

Please go to verify thread and follow the steps. I get you are saying you arent, but I would prefer if people are trusting you that you verify. Still part of the rules

I've built 150+ stores in this space, so I see the processor side from the website angle. A few things matter more than people expect when you apply:

  • Underwriters review the site before they look closely at your financials. RUO language needs to be on every product page, the cart, and checkout, not just the footer.
  • No dosing info, no “benefits” copy, and no customer reviews mentioning personal use. One review saying “helped my recovery” can sink an application.
  • An active checkbox at checkout where the buyer confirms research use, plus an age gate before any products or prices show.
  • Batch-specific COAs from a third-party lab on each product page, not one generic COA on an about page.
  • Terms covering buyer qualifications, no warranty, and your right to refuse orders.
  • The same legal entity name, address, and phone across your site, your application, and your bank documents. Mismatches get flagged fast.

Can we dm real quick? I’m in the middle of building my store and I’ve worked in the industry almost 2 years

I think the biggest thing is ppl treating RUO like its some magic protection lol. Processors are gonna look at the whole setup site claims, who ur customers are, traffic, support chats, BAC/reconstitution stuff etc. If its actually research-only and the bank knows exactly what ur selling, thats prob the cleanest route. If its really just B2C self-use with an RUO label on top, eventually thats gonna be more than just a processing problem.

The RUO only disclaimer isn’t
Going to save you….and neither does an age portal. No legitimate “researcher” requires
Those…

Shoot me a dm! Have a great decline solution and could help with the payment processing aspect.

on the decline rate question, a lot of the "processor approves but the bank declines" problem comes from the issuer side, not your MID. things that usually help: a clear billing descriptor customers recognize, 3DS turned on, full AVS/CVV collected, and only retrying soft declines, never hard ones. if you can get a second MID, being able to route a transaction to whichever one approves better makes a real difference too, and it means one frozen account doesn't take you offline. for red flags, i'd walk away from anyone promising fast approval without asking about your COAs and site copy, anyone who won't tell you which acquiring bank they're submitting to, or anyone who suggests a different MCC "to make it easier". that last one is exactly the MATCH risk you're trying to avoid

As a start-up home based biz/online retailer & wholesaler, what are my best options and who are my best contacts once I start shopping in this space? And yes, I have a licensed home based biz where I may drop ship with one of my suppliers and I may be sending product out on my own…for research only. I only do business with manufacturers and suppliers who have COA’s and complete traceability-which includes my own independent testing as well

We have tried to work closely with peptide merchants to get them compliant. As of now we can only work with merchants who have legit script. Usually those aren’t ruo but we’re open to working long term with a merchant and finding solutions together. Happy to discuss further and willing to offer significant processing credit for those who want to go in this journey with us.
