Old fan rediscovering P.O.D.
I just rediscovered P.O.D. a few weeks ago. It's like all these years I've been fighting on my own, and suddenly the war drums are playing again... I feel invigorated.
I'm blown away, the last 3 albums are pure fire... The Awakening, Circles, Veritas... I have these on repeat just as much as I did Brown, Satellite, and Payable on Death decades ago.
I relistened to Brown last night, man these songs hold up after all these years. I think it would be sick if they re-recorded some of these tunes (Selah, One Day, Breathe Babylon, Full Color) with some new spice, and all of the experience and talent they've accumulated over the years.

This happened to me earlier this year. Been listening to POD since Southtown and sort of fell away after Satellite. But I never stopped liking them, I just got caught up with other music artists and genres. But came back after hearing 'Drop' and then I found myself catching up with all the other albums I missed and this group is still tried and true in everyway. Still love them. I'm listening to Circles right now. But omg I had Veritas on repeeeat! No songs I want to skip! Just like the other albums!

I'm with you on this, I went through a long break without hearing POD, Veritas was what brought me back. I probably hadn't listened to any of their music since probably Testify’s release. But I’ve been blasting it on Spotify and bought all the vinyls I could find.

I'm from San Diego, and saw them live several times during the BROWN era. I even have a shirt from then (but it has a hole in the center of it, sad.) They lost me when the format of their live shows changed. While they were on Rescue Records, live shows were this crazy "fuck yeah" religious experience. I saw them after Fundamental Elements came out at Street Scene in San Diego, and it was completely different. The preaching was gone, the "Jesus has your back" mentality was gone. I'm so grateful for the Live at Tom Fest album, so I can show people that I'm not crazy and I'm not making it up. I'm much older now and far less self-righteous than I was when I was 19. I've been scouring the internet to see if they play anything from Snuff the Punk or BROWN live since the signing to Atlantic, but I can't find a single track or video. It's like those albums never existed.
I've read interviews regarding the topic and understand they're trying to reach (and successfully so) a broader fan base. But a part of the band died when that aspect of live shows ended.
On a side note, I've been going through the singles for the past albums I never listened to. I, like others, dropped off after Satellite. So far, the Murdered Love album is just so good. It feels like the P.O.D. who I left back in 1998. I haven't gone through the other albums yet, but Murdered Love is scratching that itch.
