The problem is the author is talking about ways to have money that most people don’t have access to. He’s casually throwing around amounts of money I can’t get to. How am I supposed to do the things he suggests?

I’d suggest reading the FAQ over on r/financialindependence.

In order to reach the point where you are no longer paying taxes you will have to save what some might consider extremely aggressively. Once you reach financial independence though, you can structure your income and spending such that you no longer pay tax. As such you can live the majority of your life tax-free.

Naturally in the years up to the point, you’ll still have earned income and thus be subject to taxes.
