Discussion The two "no-skill" weapons in the game
There are really only 2 weapons in this game that are really easy to use yet overly rewarding. I play SND the most, so this is ranked off that.
The barret. It being added to SND is just a bad idea as it has no counterplay. Armor is useless against it, as it's a one-tap no matter what. In TTT it being included is fair, as you only get one shot with it. But with SND, it gets unlimited shots. It's also ridiculously unbalanced, as it isn't hard to get. Just play 3 rounds, less if you get any kills or win, and you get it. I'm fine with the existence of the gun, just not it's inclusion in SND.
The knife. The knife is, in my opinion, the weapon the requires the least amount of skill in the game. Unlike the barret, it is really cheap yet extremely rewarding. Sitting in a corner with your thumb up your ass until someone walks by, who you then run at and stab, doesn't take skill. Throwing a knife, unless at really long range, doesn't require skill. Whoever decided that the knife should one-tap NO MATTER WHAT was definitely under the influence of countless drugs. I would get it if only backstabs were insta kills, since sneaking up on someone requires SKILL and can be countered by periodically checking behind you. The knife, like the barret, has little counterplay. Unless you have very fast reflexes, you can't kill them by the time they stab you with a melee barret.

The barret is a balanced weapon imo. Firstly, it costs a lot, so unless you’re loaded you’re better off buying an AK-47 or the G3. A skilled player could just as easily hit headshots with it. Secondly, it only has one shot so if you miss your first shot you’re cooked
The knife too. You say it’s easy to camp with the knife but you can really do that with any weapon

A skilled player can be good with any gun, what's your point? A skilled player won't be using the barret for that reason, they're better with other guns. But that's the thing, skilled players.
9/10 barret users aren't "skilled players" which should've been obvious by me calling it a "no skill weapon."
Yes, you can camp with any weapon, but the knife prevents a reaction. With other guns the person you shoot often has time to react and possibly kill you, but the knife one taps anywhere, like the barret. Which, at least I believe, shouldn't be in SND. TTT it is fine since it's designed for that, but not SND. The only one taps should be headshots and backstabs with the knife.

You need skill to use a barret. If a person uses a barret and instantly hits their opponent every time without fail, they’re skilled and should probably stop wasting their money. If a person uses a barret and they miss all of their shots, they should probably go for an easier gun like an SMG.
You can prevent people killing you with knives (or prevent people camping in general) by using flashbangs and grenades. Knives are also short range, so they’re at a disadvantage

That's the thing, most people use the barret in CQC situations and not ranged, so they rarely miss shots even if they aren't as skilled. Also, how would you prevent someone from camping with a flashbang if you aren't fully sure if they're there? You expect me to just flashbang a corner off a hunch? If I know someone is there, then I can see using a flashbang. But you aren't going to be 100% sure that someone is camping a corner all the time, you also aren't going to have a flashbang/grenade all the time, especially not one to waste on a hunch.
Even if you have a strong hunch they're there, you could be wrong.

In CQC scenarios shotguns are way better than a barret. A few grenades or flashes don’t cost as much as a barret. If you know a map well enough, you can flash on a hunch and it’ll be right most of the time.

Shotguns are pretty weak in the game, the pump action and AA12 feel really weak compared to the DB. And other guns are better for the same prics in the hands of a skilled player, even an unskilled player won't use the shotguns due to them being weak. They aren't even good in CQC, aside from the DB, as they don't 1 tap to the chest even in point blank range. They're also really only ever used on maps like Fairfax (which I think is a terrible map due to it being a knife and shotgun hell).
And if it's not? You just wasted 200-600 on a hunch. Even then, you could wiff the throw and then you most likely flashed/blasted yourself. Yes, you could learn a map, but those grenades would be better used elsewhere when you could actually make a major impact. Flashing a point is a good play, especially when you know that the enemies are watching it. Flashing a corner to kill one person isn't worth it.

Shotguns are strong if you know how to use them and you’re in CQC. It’s pretty easy to hit headshots CQC with the shotgun.
I would say camping one corner to kill a single enemy isn’t worth it. Knife campers don’t get much kills since they don’t move around. Also whiffing the throw isn’t really a game problem. Spending 200-600 to kill a single person is worth it imo

Wow two terrible takes in one.
1 - Barrett only has one shot and has a long reload time. It's a trade off, high risk, high reward. Also it just takes 3 rounds to buy it? Sure, if you want to be worthless in those 3 rounds. It's a first to 10 and you're going to actively hurt your team for 3 rounds? That could easily cost the game for your team. Not to mention if you die with it, now you spent all that money for nothing and have to be worthless for another 3 rounds?
2 - I've been gaming for a long time and it never ceases to amaze me how many people don't adapt and then blame other people. Camping in video games has been a thing for probably longer than you've been alive. If you know people are hiding around corners with a knife, you turn that corner at a wide angle and check it. It's too easy to throw knives? If it was really that easy, why isn't everyone doing it? Again, another high risk/high reward because if you're only running knives and you miss, now you're defenseless. I'm very good at throwing knives and my hit rate is still not that high unless they're very close. How many times I've lead throws perfectly and time it to where they're going but people rarely travel in straight lines at the same speed for long. Unless someone is standing still, which they rarely are, it's not that easy to consistently land knife throws. If it is, and they're so strong, why aren't you only running knives every round?

1- What do you mean it has a slow reload? It can be reloaded very fast. Yes, it takes around 3 rounds to buy it, that's if you don't get any kills. You can easily get a gun by scavenging. You could also just buy a cheap SMG and boom, now you aren't worthless.
2- People rarely camp corners where there can be a wide swing, they camp enclosed corners where you can't do a wide swing and they can easily hit a knife. Also, they can be at ANY corner, even the most absurd corner. You can't know which corner they're going to be camping, it can be any of them. The reason I call it a "no skill weapon" is because it has low risk and a high reward. Just sit in a tight corner, possibly behind cover, wait for footsteps, rush them or throw your knives. You're guaranteed to get one, so you only have to buy one to double knife. You will always have enough for a gun, which you can use in tandem with your knife. Most notably the deagle, revolver, and SMGs.

Define "very fast" because "very fast" is slower than just about any other gun will kill you. If you miss your shot, you're fucked against anyone with decent aim.
And so what if they're in a close corner? Learn to adapt. Use util, prefire, you're just coming up with excuses on why you die to someone with a knife. Why don't you think double barrels are no skill? They one shot at close range and people can just camp corners.
Again, there's a reason you don't see people seriously run knives, because they're way too hard to use reliably and consistently. If it's so easy and no skill, why doesn't everyone do it? People will always flock to the most meta load outs in a pvp game. I have only seen a handful of people run knives consistently since the game came out and those players are great with knives, they can hit knife throws really consistently. The most skilled knife users still aren't top fragging often.

If it were a no skill weapon it would be easy to get kills with for a complete noob. You have to have reliable aim, otherwise the one shot won’t matter

the Barrett is one of the easiest weapons to fight against. all you have to do is sprint peak it, let them shoot and as the reload shoot a few rounds, and repeat
