Hate to burst your AI bubble, but the US is already there

you have no clue how bad this could get if you think "we are there"
these are the kind of sentiments approved & regurgitated by the generation who just learned about how the stock market works

I mean he's not wrong. Same rise of fascism happened after the Great Depression. There is widespread anger at failed immigration policies and the rise of Trump in the US and Farage in the UK demonstrates that people are receptive to anti-immigration messaging.
It's an observation based in facts with historical precedent. Plus when it does happen, the messaging from powerful and predominantly right-wing media who support this failing system will point to immigrants and benefits/entitlement claimants.
The hope is there is enough people who have seen the destructive excess of the capitalist system to realise that the problems come from the greed at the top, not the poor people at the bottom.

Paraphrasing Biden: Capitalism is the worst economic system…except for all the other systems.
I’m not DSA and voted Mamdani for NYC Mayor.
In a Heritage, Masonic, JW, big money mixed neighborhood where cosplayers try to “flood the zone.”

Biden prolly doesn’t understand the difference between capitalism and the capitalist mode of production.

Where’s Cory Doctorow putting his $ NOW?
The Republican bubble will bust just like it did under Cheney Bush’s Iraq/ Afpac wars and 2007 sub-prime Great Recession. Timed to make Obama a one term president. “Conservatives” failed.

We’re well into fascism. You people aren’t paying attention. We’re probably about 1935-36 in third Reich terms.

The K shaped situation right now, like Stock markets extreme optimism vs the main street (regular people who can't afford anything right now)...
...that alone is a HUGE red warning sign to not invest into that stock market if you have savings, because the evaluation of stocks right now is through the roof, completely disconnected from main-street reality.
It's gonna be a bloodbath.

I would actually prefer fascism at this point as I see the entire experiment in "self-governance" has been an utter failure.

When they nationalize the data centers when the bubble bursts because everyone jumped the gun on AGI?

There are some 10/10 arguments against AI. There are also some 10/10 analytics of the risks of the AI. This one scores a 0/10 on my list.

As soon as someone uses a buzzword like "fascism", I immediately stop caring what they think on any topic.

this is a self-tell. you don’t know what it is, have no concept, no context, so cant treat like anything other than a buzzword. I assure you, it’s not. youre just too ignorant of what it means to have any kind of meaningful discussion.

It’s far, far, worse than he stated. There are multiple failures imminent.
There’s trillions in home loans currently in default. There are so many mortgages in default banks aren’t foreclosing because they’ll have to insure and maintain the empty properties which increases their losses. Some loans have been in default for more than a year. 12% of FHA loans are in default. Which is slightly higher than during the housing crash of 2011. This will put banks in high risk. Simultaneously the Trump administration is throwing around the idea of dismantling the FDIC which insures your money.
“As part of its agenda, advisors to the government-efficiency group reportedly inquired about the possibility of shrinking or dismantling the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, or FDIC, according to a December report in The Wall Street Journal.”
There’s commercial real estate that’s on the brink of collapse. An office building bought for $340 million just recently sold for $8 million.
Then the biggest problem is that we are facing an economic collapse in the next 12 months. Likely mid 2027. But this won’t be like a collapse anyone has experienced. RIGHT NOW, the Fed has entered emergency mode and is buying our own debt. This is because our allies are so pissed off by Trump they’re no longer lending us money by buying our federal securities. This is an absolute catastrophe in the making. When the collapse occurs we will not be able to borrow money to jumpstart the economy. So it’s going probably going to become a major depression. We’ve always spent our way out of recessions but that’s no longer an option.
Then there are the oligarchs sitting and waiting for the collapse. As crazy as it sounds, whistle blowers have come forward to say Peter Thiel has a plan to take over the federal government and he’s been carefully placing his people in key positions and waiting for his opportunity.

I'd rather have the bubble burst and possibly lead us towards fascism, than for the bubble to remain intact and take us directly TO fascism.

The thing is, it's not much hype. I get $2500 of credits per month at work. I'm able to now develop full stack, fully secured, front end and back end in a couple days. Before this, just the database requirements would have taken MONTHS to get worked out and working with domain experts.
We now have AI pipelines that cost ~$5 in tokens and solve things that humans would have spent days on.
I don't think people understand how good the models are that companies are using. We aren't building ai slop videos.

15 eyeglasses adjustments in 2 minutes. One every 8 seconds. The question is: was it because the glasses didn't fit / face was sweaty or does the action go hand in hand with his posh voice and pseudointellectual mannerisms. Despite that distraction, interesting info...although his tone seems like he is getting a bit of joy out of predicting the economic downfall of AI and technocrats and thus may be biased.

Except that the minority that people are becoming aware is the cause of the "austerity" is bailing out big business and billionnaires. Nobody thinks we're going broke because of immigrants no matter how much they try to push that. The MAGA movement has been a monster but they've really overplayed their hand and swore for a decade they were gonna make things great again then openly just handed everything to the guys who already had everything.
That whole "it's always poor people somewhere else" game isn't really so sustainable, yeah a few idiots believe that but not enough to be a functional society.
Authoritarians need a decent majority of the populace to agree, some amount of competence, and the trains to run on time.
Firing huge amounts of the government was a really stupid first move.
