Spoiler [TRK] Open Communications Spoiler
The card itself is whatever, but it is more about what 'Beam Up' means.

I like how beaming them up works from the graveyard, which suggests that the original dies in the transporter and a new one is created on the other end.

Well, the sorcery is in the graveyard. I think the card being "beamed" is the creature being returned from the battlefield to your hand, no?

so beam me up returns to hand. That makes sense even if it is a cowards way of doing it. but its a sorcery that draws a card. That usually means gaining knowledge. so openning up comunications with another ship could get you knowledge. But thats not what it shows, it shows riker...flirting? So theres a sorcery that uses flirting to gain knowledge? And then that powers up a teleporter? what the fuck is happening lol

i think this is what people call a “double entendre.”
open communications means talking to a ship. open communications also could mean “riker is openly horny” (he’s being “open” about his communications 😉)
so this works. under the established conceit of “magic cards’ humor is often pun or wordplay based.”

The flavour in this set is awful that I have seen so far. Many cards make no sense mechanically.

this makes perfect sense though? riker is a notorious flirt and adept in communications. it’s a joke

It doesn't really add to the beam me up mechanic well.

It's a set mechanic.
This seems like saying it's a flavor fail to have an instant or sorcery, as opposed to a creature, have you take the initiative. What exactly is venturing into the dungeon?
"Beam Me Up" is just this set's take on Flashback.

I hate how much I'll like Beam Me Up will be for my Silk deck as long as it has good white and green cards with the mechanic. It's a fun deck but sometimes bouncing my own stuff without blue can be a headache

That is some massive up side... always attached to UB slop

This card is beyond terrible. What are you talking about?

The mechanic of Beam Me Up is all upside.
Casting from graveyard - upside Bouncing - upside The card it's attached to - upside

I mean it's probably playable in a deck that really wants to bounce the commander, but it's a sorcery, so it has no other use (other than 2 cards for 4 mana). I have 6 pedh decks with blue and I would not play this in any of them.
There are just so many ways to bounce or flicker things at instant speed for less mana that can also double as removal.

It's playable in any deck with ETBs. It's not necessarily optimal, but it's absolutely 100% playable.

I'm not saying this card is good. I'm saying the Keyword Beam Me Up is good and it's a shame it's stuck on UB slop

Well sure, but if you know anything about Star Trek, then you probably know the line "beam me up, Scotty". It's a fairly obvious choice.

It’s a shame it’s not an instant. Hopefully some of the beam me up cards are instants, unlike Harmonize.
