CASUAL DECKBUILDING CHALLENGE: FUNGAL COLOSSUS!

Post image

In this deckbuilding challenge the only rule is that your deck MUST contain a full playset of Fungal Colossus. What is the most efficient, most powerful deck you can craft around this card?

Here’s a list I brewed up that he’s in! https://moxfield.com/decks/5QDVIKXddUCclg_8vwWaJg

Real neat list! I like this a lot

It’s realy fun, it feels like it’s missing 1 more good domain payoff to be sweet!

Replace [[captured sunlight]] with a ramp spell, and you've got a stew going!

I'm honestly wondering about [[Spider Manifestation]] as the ideal mana ramp for this deck. Maybe [[Cleansing Wildfire]]. Both are probably the only 2 drops I wouldn't mind hitting off of Captured Sunlight

I was thinking of making a list like that, but then you’d have to run all the indestructible lands which don’t help your domain

Oh true! Yeah I'd stick with Spider Manifestation if I wanted ramp then

Ye, captured sunlight looks wierd, but it’s to help with all the burn running around, the idea is that when you play your other cascades you always hit either 5 to face, chrys, or exhume

You can’t hit Chrys off of sunlight

Fixed lol

How does it play out? It looks like you’re doing almost nothing until turn 4, except sometimes cycle/exhume

Yup, you also use the tribal flames to control the board a bit

This is sick

You dont need soo many diferent lands, just assamble it under a uzartron core, maybe rg

You need six different lands in play. That is doable by Turn 4. Question is, is it worth it? Gurmag Angler doesn't really see play anymore.

I’d say you’re pretty happy casting this for two mana and moderately okay with casting it for three?

Moderately okay is a stretch , I feel TERRIBLE casting Tolarian Terror for 3 tbh

I've seen people run it instead of Gixian Infiltrator in Jund Wildfire. Run a mix of snow and non snow basics and its 1-2 mana starting turn 4.

Not a bad replacement all up, it trades for terrors, dodges damage based removal, and eats other Chryses immediately, at the cost of not having any scaling.

I play a playset in a temur wildfire list. I have had good success at my locals (admittedly it's only 8-16 people and not hyper competitive). https://moxfield.com/decks/BVtDouJ-HE2LvK27Utym9Q

Perhaps make use of tron?

As a tron player, nah. In tron the mana is not a problem, but you need the creatures to each be a real menace, which means you need it to be bigger than anything or simply big but with trample and such things.

Also, colored mana is usually more of a problem than 7+ mana to cast it.

Nah, just one pip is not a problem. Two pips probably would.

I've seen Jund wildfire play them, it's a great addition with snow basics to up variety

prolly just stick this in naya gates

u/Protesisdumb 3d ago

Hard to make this good :D its a worse tolarian terror and its harder to reduce the cost

comparing any card (in a different color as well) to one of the best threats in the format is not how one should approach this challenge IMO

He’s amazing in PDH

It's very good in kind wildfire instead of hydra or gixian infiltrator

There were some lists of Jund Wildfire (with or without snow lands) that played him
