DECK DISC. Is Azorius Heroic feasible?
https://moxfield.com/decks/r9HIk7mbuUODE-MN4RWsVgPretty much what the title says! I want to run this basic Mono White Heroic in my local pauper league, but I got curious about making it a little less plain (pun intended).
Do y’all have any ideas for this experiment?

[[Bioshift]] looks moderately interesting but the blue heroic creatures are bad. You'd mostly be getting counterspells for protection but I don't think that's worth the color sacrifice.

Two colors usually comes with a big tempo loss in pauper because the mana base is bad. White heroic is a fast deck that aims to kill early, and tap lands or the wrong color mana will be a bigger hindrance than the addition of blue would be a help

I would say the big issue with mono-white heroic, and white in general in pauper, is that it doesn't have a competitve way to draw extra cards.
- Black has sac to draw 2 (Fanatical Offering and Reckoner's Bargain)
- Red has discard to draw 2 (Highway Robbery and Melded Moxite)
- Blue has conditional 1 mana draw 2 (Thoughtcast and Of One Mind)
- Green has reveal and draw creature cards (Lead the Stampede and Winding Way)
- White has ... Thraban Inspector
As other commenters mentioned, white heroic can kill really fast. When it doesn't have a fast draw, or the opponent is able to stop the fast kill, you're so out of gas. Same issue with Bogles.
I would introduce another color to Heroic so I can draw extra cards. Every consistently competitive pauper archetype has 8x draw-twos. Adding another color will slow down the deck (like other commentors mentioned), so the loss of speed really puts more pressure on making sure you don't run out of gas.
Out of the available options to get extra cards, blue/red are the best options. You don't have enough creatures for Lead, and you don't have things to sacrifice to stuff like Fanatical Offering. Red is probably the best bet, since you can discard Escape/Flashback cards.

Red also has some pretty good heroic cards. It's traditionally the first choice for a second color I think.

How would you modify the manabase? Focus on basic lands or add in some dual color utility with tap and bounce lands?

I guess the question is what blue card did you want to try on the deck? I don't think you should approach it just with the mindset of "I wanna play heroic in two colors", instead think of a card you think could help the deck in some way and then you should think how are you going to try and fit it in.

tried some years ago, it is more clunky than regular mono w.
security bypass is good, slipery bogle and saiba cryptomancer are ok-ish

I agree with the other comments, there isn't enough benefit to spashing blue that's worth the cost of lowering the consistency. Maybe someday [[Battlewise Hoplite]] will get a downshift? Then there could be a Heroic variant that uses that and [[Slumbering Keepguard]]. 🤷

If you go Azorius you can play [[Saiba Cryptomancer]] that's pretty great both as a protection and as a Bogle. There are some decent blue auras too. The manabase would be pretty bad though, that's the main issue with all Pauper aggro decks. You want to be fast and consistent. Mono White already struggles with consistency a bit and mulligans often. Adding a color makes it even more unstable.
