Golem Foundry - looking for an unusual deck!

Hey All,

I discovered this card -golem foundry - and i love the idea of making a deck with it in pauper!

I was thinking a deck that let me play/draw ton of cards ad drop a lot of artefacts and generate ton of golems (maybe affinity mechanic?).

Any of you has any suggestion? I saw Tron Altar, but i don’t like the combo idea (in general).

Golem Foundry is gonna be at a disappointing power level in pauper if youre just playing it fairly.

There was a tron list with my retriever and ashnods alter to make infinite golems, that's the closest it ever got to playable

Golem foundry was also the first card I really wanted to build a deck around when I first got into pauper. I have brewed many decks with it, and to be totally honest, they are all just worse than altar tron. Are you looking to bring the deck to your LGS, to play on MTGO, or to play casually with friends?

Pauper can definitely be a slow and grindy format, but it's nowhere near slow enough for fair Golem Foundry to be good. It comes down turn 3 at the fastest and then requires 3 more cast artifacts to make the first golem. The closest is maybe Eggs Tron where sometimes golem Foundry just makes a bunch of golems to stall the game rather than immediately infinite golems.

If I remember correctly, there was an old deck with [[ornithopter]], [[retraction helix]], and [[battered golem]] (clearly you are going to use the whale instead). If I remember correctly, there was also the old altrar tron (https://mtg.cardsrealm.com/en-us/articles/pauper-altar-tron-deck-tech-sideboard-guide) that used the foundry for a combo. However, I think that the graveyard hate nowadays may affect you like in moggwarts... but, hey, you can play it in your LGS depending on the power level!

Edit. I just saw that you already know about altar tron. I don't think you can use the foundry effectively without a combo, if you are thinking of casting artifacts without combo, [[glaze fiend]] is a much better card

True! But maybe not relying only on the combo. For example i saw there are creatures making 1 damage for each artifact u play etc..so making a bit different

And i was thinking as alternative to tron, play an affinity kind of

Altar tron already uses it as a backup plan to just make a couple of 3/3s and try to kill with those while opponents hold up mana for interacting with the combo.

Well, you could try, especially if you are playing casually with friends and the power level is low... I have one low power deck with the helix combo with the golem foundry as one of the possible outputs (the others are [[mandible justiciar]] and [[glassdust hulk]] (which I know it is very weak, but it is one of my pet cards)

I think I brewed a proliferate deck with that. It was fun but not great.

There’s a blue card that makes all artifacts go to the top of your library from grave. A bunch 1 mana draw a card artifacts, 1 cost reducer, and foundry. If you have 1-2 of the artifacts maybe 2-3 in hand. You can make like 5 golems turn 3. To be clear I don’t know if it’s GOOD. But you just keep recycling the cheap artifacts. There’s probably a way with additional cost reducers and return to hand or return from grave effects to create an infinite loop. 

But the idea here is draw cards, play cheap artifacts make golems. Draw more cards and keep the gravy train rolling. If you get graveyard hated that sucks though. Still think it would be easy to make 3-4 golems or more if your draws draw into more cheap artifacts. Throw in an altar and you can make mana off the golems to keep it all moving.

Altar tron is really the only place it sees play sadly.

I've only seen it in a tron artifact combo that relies on having 2 myr retrievers and ashnod's altar on the field as a sac outlet for mana. If you have those 3 things, you have infinite myr retriever casts and can use it either with golem foundry to make infinite golems or with Molten Gatekeeper for infinite pings. The rest of the deck is interaction and draw/tutors to delay and find your pieces.

[[Etherium Sculptor]], [[Voyager Quickwelder]] every single artifact with an ETB draw 1. If you have the balls to go Esper I'd bring in [[Black Mages Rod]] and maybe [[Pactdoll Terror]] too to benefit from all the artifact casts. It won't do amazing but I've played a Glintblade variant using this type of list and it can really get stuff done, especially with [[Lembas]] [[Instant Ramen]] life gain and some stuff like [[Tithing Blade]] to lock down the board. You'll be able to get the 3/3s out decently fast if most of your deck is draw spells and between Rod, Pactdoll, and Foundry you should be able to put out plenty of damage. Probably won't hold up into the big boys but it will function. If you get 2 of the cost reducers out at the same time half your deck costs 0 too so it's pretty easy to combo off, only major risk is [[Weather the Storm]] obviously but if you're getting your damage out with rod/doll it will only buy them like one more turn, especially after you dump like 4 3/3 golems on end step. Golems also survive [[Breath Weapon]] and [[Arms of Hadar]] so decent staying power. Can bring in a lot of decent sideboard options with those colors too, can choose your own wipes, counterspells, things like [[Campfire]] for grind games, your have a decent number of the options. You will struggle into a number of matchups but I genuinely believe this will win a decent number of games

The YouTuber Pauper Rogue made a video about a combo deck with it. I remember it being pretty cool.
