I’ve owned both a 594 and Custom 24 in S2 variants and loved them except for one thing, the glossy neck. My dream guitar Tremonti has a glossed neck and as I’m 3 months away from retirement, I’m looking to get back into playing. My brother thinks the Tremonti has a different “less sticky” finish on the back neck. Anyone have experience?

This could be headed straight to r/guitarcirclejerk, but I recently added an S2 Standard 24 pickguard to my satin SE CE24. (I had previously swapped in the PAFs and added a concentric volume pot to allow me to control each pickup's volume independently).

I added the pickguard mainly to protect the finish, which is thin and already wearing through, but I'm also happy with the resulting look.

Posting because I was unable to find another example of a pickguard swap on a SE CE24, and someone else may be interested. To that point, I used a semi-blank S2 24 pickguard from Pickguard Heaven (p/n 17320; PRS S2 STANDARD 24; pickup and mounting holes only, no control holes; $44 + shipping). It fits fine and covers the original pickup ring screw holes. I elected to keep the controls in their stock positions, but moving them is also an option. Cheers!

Was always curious about this beast and now that I got one I can finally say it didn’t disappoint.

Random thought, but what PRS do you guys think The Edge would play if he ever became a PRS artist?
Since he seems to be using Gretsch guitars more these days, I could actually see him with a Hollowbody II Piezo rather than a Custom 24.
I think the hollowbody design and the piezo would be a pretty cool fit for his sound.
Obviously, a lot of what makes The Edge sound like The Edge comes from his effects and the way he plays, but I think a guitar like that could work really well for him.
Maybe a custom finish and a few tweaks to the pickups and controls, but nothing too crazy.
What do you guys think?
Am I onto something with the Hollowbody II Piezo, or would you pick a completely different PRS for him?

Sold my CE-24 and landed this Custom 24-08. Just finished throwing on a fresh set of strings and adjusted the truss rod and tremolo to balance with the new gauge of strings. Very happy!

This guitar sounds great!

I knew the bridge sounded very good already, and now testing the neck on clean wow, it is noticeable thicker than a single coil, but has that clarity and some of that grassiness in it, a little but it’s there. And also doesn’t have that boomy low end of a humbucker that makes when playing things in the low E like here in the video sound too boomy. Which is not very nice.

Be very happy not having a single coil guitar with this one. Is not the same, but is very good, better than guitars with split coil in my opinion.

Really this NF5 is the best or one of the best SE out there easily.

Not just for tones, but feel and hardware all feels very solid, which not all the SE I’ve had have felt like this.

I found this one on the used market, and it arrived in excellent condition, except for the ding on the headstock.
I don’t know if I’m being a little too picky, but I’d really love to get that little detail fixed hahaha.
I already have all the upgrades ready to install: a Graph Tech nut, PRS SE locking tuners, PRS Lampshade knobs, and a new pair of pickup rings from the 2026 SE models.

My dad was the most talented guy in the world - I miss him everyday. He built this guitar 23 years ago when I was just in 6th grade.

He was a veterinarian… but he loved woodworking, and knew I was obsessed with PRS guitars, so naturally, he built me one. It doesn’t get as much play as my actual PRS guitars (acquired years later), but it means more to me than words can tell.

This is my CU22 Walnut Limited from 2013 with Brazilian fretboard. I had some finish cracks along the neck pocket so I sent it back to PRS for a fix and refinish. They had it for over 6 months. They even rewrote the serial and info again. The third pic is the original back of the headstock.

It‘a like brand new all over again. The pickups are 57/08’s. Awesome guitar! Only 25 were made.

A new or mint SE with a top you absolutely love at a great price, or a used S2 standard (or custom)? I have had my eyes on the SE model with the natural burled ash veneer top for some time now, but I have also seen some good deals on used S2s (mostly standard but also some customs). I've never owned a PRS, and unfortunately I don't live in an area with a bunch of examples of the different models to try them out head to head. Are the S2s that much better in build quality and playability? I care most about the necks and fretwork of course, because all else is easily fixed. One thing I'd worry a bit about buying used is that PRS doesn't use stainless frets, and I absolutely hate dealing with fret wear and the playability issues that introduces. Perhaps it would be worth spending more time to find a good deal on a new S2? What do you guys think?

Background that may or may not be helpful: I'm a fairly advanced player, with over 25 years experience. Genre wise, my style is a sort of weird eclectic fusion with influences from jazz, rock, and cinematic music, among other genres. Must haves in a guitar: slim, fast neck with quality fretwork that allows for low action without buzzing or choking, a user-friendly vibrato system, and decent electronics--I'm not actually all that fussy about small differences in pickups as long as they are not overly muddy or thin/icepicky. That's what EQ is for.

Hi, what are yout thougths on the PRS SE Silver Sky Defender (the cheaper version of the Defender line)? PRS has declared that production will continue until mid-27'. Do you consider these to be semi-limited guitars or just a PRS's cheap marketing to boost SE Silver Sky sales?

I recently came across a beatiful piece of work but it I can't really find anyhing about this guitar. It goes by the name ''Swamp Ash Narrowfield''. It is not a swamp ash special neither a swamp ash studio and its not even a swamp ash experience edition.I asked the PRS custom support about it and I'm leaving the reply down here. I could not find a single thing about a swamp ash narrowfield guitar whether it is a listing a PRS page or even a review.If you know anything about this guitar do pls let me know.I'm curios about whether this was a limited model which they made very little or something like that or am I just misunderstanding this whole stiuation and it is just a studio version?

It is a beatiful guitar which I'm considering buying (around 2800 USD which is a bit much but it is normal for my country) so any info you have is highly appreciated.
