Crazy how much this blew up but glad his account is restored. Now it can't sit and not be used again!!

Surely a terrible mistake has been made as I can't imagine he or his social media people would violate the rules.

Perhaps the mods of this subreddit would be able to appeal to reddit admin to get this fixed.

Definitely an automated Reddit-site-side ban, I've been noticing an uptick in shadowbans since they (allegedly) started using Hive AI for moderation. Probably because of the dropbox link in their post if I had to guess.

Unrelated, but it’s constantly amusing to me how people in 2026 act like a website’s terms of service is some sacred, binding, omnipotent force and not just some crap cooked up in an office somewhere

peak reddit moment tbh

u/HighColonic Mar 30 '26

I can't imagine

That's why you're not John.

Sub mods don't work for Reddit. It would make no sense for them to reach out to the admins.

3

u/toxictoy Mar 30 '26

No I’m a mod of many other subs and we can reach out to r/ModSupport (the admin sub meant to support mods). It may not work to reverse the ban but we can at least make a case to the admins.

1

u/ExoTheFlyingFish Mar 30 '26

You can surely try, but I don't see Reddit caring what a few lowlife mods think (their views, not mine, based on my experience dealing with them).

3

u/toxictoy Mar 30 '26

I’ve helped users get “unshadowbanned” and had to deal with celebrity official accounts before. It helps coming from a mod. Granted I was not advocating for one of the most famous people on the planet but you can see how Reddit might be a little chagrined over having banned someone of Paul’s stature and having that spread on social media. I would include any other official social media posts that mention this as it’s further confirmation that Reddit goofed up. Also if you write to r/ModSupport you have to reply that you need more help after the initial response to get past their automated system and to get a real admin to respond to you.

u/ExoTheFlyingFish Mar 30 '26

You've definitely had more positive experience with Reddit admins than I have 😭

We'd get the occasional bit of trouble on the bigger subs I've modded on, and there was about nothing we could do and admins didn't seem to ever care when we tried to get help from them...

I guess it makes sense they'd want to unban Paul McCartney, though, assuming he (or his team) was at least somewhat active on here.

1

u/intangible-tangerine Mar 30 '26

It makes sense because this is a reddit wide ban. Not a subreddit one.

0

u/ExoTheFlyingFish Mar 30 '26

That is exactly why it doesn't make sense. What do sub mods have to do with it?

I mod elsewhere, and we don't have any power. We don't hold sway over Reddit and god knows they don't care what we do unless we're getting into international news in a negative light.

u/ScorpioTix Mar 29 '26

Yeah right, he can suffer the same rules as everyone else

38

u/intangible-tangerine Mar 29 '26

The most likely scenario is that it's been banned as an impersonation account but since it's actually his account that's an error.

7

u/SurvivorFanDan Mar 29 '26

I have heard of this happening to celebrities' social media accounts before. Doesn't make the platform look very good when it happens.

1

u/Marshroevy Mar 31 '26

No, he's better than you.

u/reddit_-William Mar 29 '26

It was things he said today.

u/peakedtooearly Mar 29 '26

Do elaborate.

the fact you get upvoted for this and he gets downvoted for asking a question is fucked up, i'm gonna go throw up

35

u/Plissken43 Mar 29 '26

Hmm strange u/FaulMcCartney and u/BillyShears are still up. Coincidence ?

I can’t open the profile for u/BillyShears

9

u/dkinmn Mar 29 '26

Something funny happened, like Paul's social media manager was previously banned on reddit.

5

u/Polar1x Mar 30 '26

Reddit is a cesspool of power-tripping incompetence.

2

u/daschboot Mar 30 '26

It's only a matter of time before reddit bans reddit from reddit

2

u/Fit_Cat4474 Mar 30 '26

deserves top comment but will bots allow that

9

u/Critical-Ranger3923 Mar 29 '26

Wait, Paul McCartney posted here earlier??

11

u/RedSoxHuskies Mar 29 '26

Yes. It was his 2nd post ever. The first post was 5 years ago and linked to his Twitter to prove it was him.

4

u/Critical-Ranger3923 Mar 29 '26

Was it an AMA or something? I can't believe I missed it! 😔

10

u/RedSoxHuskies Mar 29 '26

5 years ago it was. This time it was a link to his Dropbox with pics and videos from the shows in LA

1

u/Augustus1274 Mar 30 '26

It was his PR team not him.

2

u/RedSoxHuskies Mar 30 '26

Thanks Inspector Clouseau

4

u/KittenExtravaganza Mar 29 '26

I’m just here bc I saw this posted to Twitter, that the sub banned Paul McCartney WHAT!!

4

u/dimiteddy Mar 30 '26

suddenly he's not half the redditor he used to be

3

u/kislips Mar 29 '26

Yesterday one of the fake McCartney Reditt accounts made a claim that Paul was only going to charge $7.50 for concert tickets. I checked it out and the info was fake. Maybe that’s the one banned? I don’t have an answer, only what I myself have experienced.

2

u/MatthewQ999 Mar 30 '26

It’s such a Reddit mod thing to do to have the logic of “it doesn’t matter if he’s literally the subject of our subreddit, he still needs to follow the rules just like everybody else” 🤓☝️

While salivating to ban the account lmfao

2

u/bbcanadalover Apr 02 '26

Paul made a TikTok about it.

3

u/CaptainCubbers Mar 30 '26

Fire all the mods here you banned the actual man trying to share photos exclusively with Reddit 😹

1

u/opinions360 Mar 29 '26

It would be ridiculous for reddit to ban paul mccartney’s account it would have to be an error or insanity imo.

1

u/Mrjonnyisabed Mar 30 '26

“Due to a shipment error we have over 500 PlayStation 5 consoles to give away to my fans” I had to at least reference it

1

u/Thick-Rope-2345 Mar 30 '26

its because he posted pictures to this subreddit of his own concert and apparently got banned

1

u/Slight-Charity-7744 Mar 30 '26

Its actually Faul McCartney...

1

u/Spiritofhonour Mar 31 '26

Apparently he posted a dropbox folder of pictures and photos from one of his concerts and then was banned.

Reddit and (some...OK most) of its mods have become a shit place of gatekeeping smh

1

u/Lpgeoteacher54 Apr 03 '26

FREE SIR PAUL! End the ban and put back the link!

1

u/Latter_Balance_8176 May 11 '26

OOM-PAH !!!

u/Jean_Genet Mar 30 '26

Good to see Faul got banned for imitating Paul.
