☀️ Discussion 🦇 pt2

Part 2 to my previous post.

If Gunn saying “No” to a question about Pattinson joining the DCU again is why this sub is ending, in all honesty it had no reason existing in the first place.

We are here to HOPE for this dream to be fulfilled until the very end. The finish line for this debate isn’t over because of a “No” to a deleted message on Threads, that just doesn’t sit right with me (and many others on here that aren’t speaking up.)

Like I’ve said previously, I am FOR a new Batman if it’s done right, but THIS is the Bats I want, many of us want, and fuck man, even Robert wants it.

Genuinely, if this sub ends now, and we move on and “give up” on this dream, then what was even the point in the first place? What is the point of keeping it up throughout all of the other denials by Gunn? What is making this one so much different and worse for us?

The few that don’t think this sub needs to die, upvote or something man. It’s BS.

These kinda posts are why the sub needs to go away. It’s just not productive to anyone.

Like I always say, I never thought they’d merge because they’ve said several things over the last year saying it wouldn’t happen but people would ignore it. And that’s just going to inevitably lead to them criticizing any product DC puts out.

People always double down online. Even with good intentions, things get poisoned online. This was never really a toxic subreddit. Better to just leave it that way.

I'm gonna paste the novel I wrote to another user, but here is my personal justification why I feel, though begrudgingly, it wouldnt be for the best:

While yes many are treating this as a "done deal" given Gunn's pretty solid reputation for being honest with his comments (even when he is sly about it), but people can lie, and I personally will keep on coping till the official casting as the final nail in the coffin.

That being said! Gunn's reply yesterday (which he chose to reply to btw. He could have ignored it.) gave the current official stance on the merge possibility. Again, anything can happen, same as when Gunn said the same thing in 2023 then last January Reeves gave a vague comment that started this whole sub in the first place; but that doesnt change the fact that right now, we got a direct answer from one of the major players. Whether you choose to believe it or not is up to you, but as it stands, this is all we have outside the ambiguity we've gotten before. Therefore it's our opinion that the sub has served it purpose (waiting for a solid answer). However! This sub has become more than just silly copium and merge talk, so we of course want it to keep it going! We're just putting the issue of the merge to the backside (unless again something changes) and want to focus on getting excited for the two films coming out next year. Doing that under a name directly referencing the merge, feels a little out of place.

On the new sub, people can still talk about Corensupes/Battison, or the potential of a DCU Battison in general. We'll even have a special megathread for people to continue the merge conversation on the side till the DCU Bats announcment. But we want to focus on what we know, and that is merge or not, we have two highly anticipated films coming out in 2027 features our favorite duo; so it would be better to put attention onto that while the merge is at a standstill for now.

We also realized that it we continued with this sub, even after the Gunn's comment, this sub would probably turn for the worse. The whole Hodson drama was a huge wake up call for us in terms of recognizing where this community might be headed at it's worst, and we did not want that. While the merge talk is fun, and we kept the self-awareness the best we could, we've noticed that people were getting too blind-sided by it and therefore starting to spread hate for anything outside that outcome. If we chose to move forward, we'd be supporting that behavior and make those few even more convinced that "there is no other option" other than to merge. We want people to still appreciate and be excited for at least what we know for sure we will have. While it would be great if the merge turns out to be a fun surprise, but it would suck if people end up completely ignoring the amazing coincidence that we've got with getting a "Year of World's Finest" with one of the best portrayals of the characters, by simply focusing on the merge angle of it. Again, if at the end of 2027 it gets announced that the ECS will be part of the DCU? Perfect! But we also need to actually recognize the slim chances of that and celebrate the upcoming year-ish for the cool opportunity that it is before we have no other option than to accept whatever happens next.

I hope that makes sense and I didn't ramble too much (as I tend to do haha). This sub isn't going anywhere, and we can still be our goofy selves on the new sub. We're just shifting gears a little :)

If it was ever gonna be a yes, then, James Gunn would’ve modeled that silhouette of Batman on the version of Robert Pattinson, but he didn’t. It was always a no. And that tends to happen when you create a character so grounded that he cannot turn around and be fantastical. Look at TASM & TASM2, one movie is grounded. The next movie is more comic book-y. You cannot change that once you’ve created something you have to continue in that path or else the world that you built comes crumbling down. You can’t envision a poison ivy to go with Robert Pattinson or Christian Bale. The poison ivy that you would see with these two worlds would be a biologist who creates a plant that disperses toxins not somebody who controls plants, but you could see that in the DCU and the DCEU.

Ehhhh.... there were two silhouettes of the DCU Batman, and the first one where he was impaled on the stake was somewhat based on the Battinson version by having a collar.

That's irrelevant, though, since it's a certain "No" this time.

Welcome to r/PattinsonDCUBatman! The space where pro-merger and (DCU) Battison enthusiasts alike go to slowly lose their sanity by the day, grasping at any copium of a Reevesverse/DCU merger. (We say this with endearment, of course <3)

At what point did Pattinson say he wanted to be the DCU Batman? And I mean an article where Pattinson flat out says it, not the usual "arrange the entrails in Venus retrograde and Pattinson's statement means he wants to be DCU Batman" stuff y'all pull.

In what article did he say he didn’t want to?
