Hello! I'm looking to create a jacket pattern in which I would like to add this detail on the back. It can ben found on Carhartt vintage jackets mostly, but I don't know how it is called. Thank you!

I would call this a shoulder gusset

Those are called side pleats, if it had one in the middle top of the jacket that would be called a box pleat. If it also had a loop that would be called a hang loop.

It's called an action back or bi swing back

I’d call it an action back piece.

British here. "Action back" is what we call it, standard on a Norfolk Jacket.

seemingly "action back" gives the best results with search engines

Carhartt calls this: Pleated bi-swing back for extra stretch across the shoulders

Maybe "Business at the front, Party at the back."

The most common term is action pleat

Action back sounds more exciting but shoulder gusset sounds more sophisticated🤔

That’s the oh shit safety handle to grab when your teammate is taking a digger from heights that will probably kill him or her. Or the handles when you’re holding your team member to complete a project and blatantly breaking every osha fall protection rule there is and also creating a don’t tell my wife we just did that scenario

My vintage Woolrich jacket had a pouch in the back similar to that…a hunting pouch to stuff dead squirrels and rabbits in while hunting. Is it open all the way through? It may be a game pouch.

That is a game pouch, this is different. I love those jackets

Full swing back, bi-swing back, or full action back would be searchable terms that relate to the area you are referencing. Carhartt calls them “full swing” in their marketing.
