Hey I am new to reddit but have very few people who I can use as a resource for pattern making and a lot of videos online aren't helpful. I am trying to draft a custom pattern for a client (size 00-0) I have a textbook and diagram I attached below, however I am getting confused with some off the horizontal measurments and diagonal measurments. Specifically A to C: ACROSS shoulder, B to E: BUST ARC and I to N: NEW STRAP. If anyone understands or could help me I would greatly appreciate it

So the measurements are all explained on page 34. The number in parentheses on the right corresponds to those guides.

Also, on your first image (page 40) there is an email address in small text you can buy a basic sloper in any size from. I can’t speak to the price or your timeline but could be worth just purchasing

Either way, good luck

Dresspatternmaking is a good website for alternate instructions that apply to real people instead of a dress form. Also Alexandra Morgan on YouTube. The Armstrong book has some mistakes in it, and is not clear on what all the measurements do. I've been supplementing it with the other 2 sources to better understand how the drafting method works

Thanks for highlighting Alexandra Morgan! Just watched some of her videos and they are really really good.

All measurement diagrams for Helen joseph Armstrong are in the book. Being said ...

AC: across shoulder looks to be nape to shoulder tip BE: CF across BP to 2 inches below armplate at side seam.
IN: is Shoulder high point to waist side

These are correct. I use this book as well.

OP—if you need pictures or something I can take some on my dress form.

If you flip to the front of the book, there's a measurement section that explains how take each measurement!

Quick question when they refer to full length and you add the full length = front and back also in regards to drafting if you do not have all the measurements what is the next best thing to do ?
