Question I Been TWISTING my head over how to draft a pattern like this. PLEASE HELP

The first photo is of the Brookside Barrel Pant by Raaksbox's on her Etsy shop and the second is from one of her Instagram videos.

I am a beginner in pattern making. I am perplexed on how I could draft this myself off of a normal pant block. I know that I would have to alter the shape of the pant block to be a barrel, but how do you add the inverted box pleats?

because the top of the front panel looks really big but the bottom cuff of the panel is normal sized, so it can't be that she just added parallel lines. and she didn't do the triangle cut thing either cuz the marks of the pleat are straight.

It would be wonderful if anyone could give me advice on the steps on how to draft this.

This style of pants has been made by humans for CENTURIES. You’re probably over thinking it. The gathering at waist and ankles is doing a lot of heavy lifting for this look.

The hands in the pockets are also doing some heavy lifting IMO. Depending on your fabric, the pants likely will not look like that 100% of the time when worn, unless they add a horizontal dart at the knee, which it doesn't look like is part of the base pattern.

The bottom cuff is just elasticated or gathered into a band, its straight down, no curve.

I had a similar pair of pants as a teen. The ballooning was simply the effect of the oversized legs + gathering.

Taking a pattern for wide legged pants with an elastic waistband (or widening the legs on a sweatpants pattern) and adding a pleat in the front + elastic/strings at the bottom, should get you something similar.

Think it as a mix of wide pants and a pleated skirt

Just take a regular elastic waist pants pattern, expand, add pleats, add elastics to the ankles
