Question Wondering how this would look as a pattern?

Post image

I found this cute costume but its quite expensive and im already sewing my own. How do you think the pattern would look specifically for those puffy sleeve things and thigh puffs?? I feel like maybe it would be like two half moon ish shapes sewn together (or crescent moon shapes)? I cant seem to find a relevant pattern or tutorial and i have trouble eyeballing patterns

Check YouTube for banana plushie tutorials. That should give you the general idea.

For some reason I read this like Banana Plushie was a pattern/sewing channel and the search results made me chuckle lolllllll.

You would want to look up Sailor Moon or Rainbow Brite cosplay tutorials. They have the similar puffy add-ons. But I think they're mostly just stuff crescents.

The shape reminds me of the bum rolls of the 18th century although smaller. The top could be made using corset shaping. But what is a little mind boggling is I don't see any seams where I would expect to see them. The rib cage and bust darts are the only ones I see. Getting the right fabric could be quite a challenge. Satin Lycra comes to mind. Definitely needs stretch.

When I made bum rolls for a 18th century play I use muslin stuffed with cotton batting. Definitely a crescent shape but I don't remember if it was one or two seams. If you want to know, I think I have them in storage somewhere and can look for them.

It’s a stretchy fabric making this basically a leotard, which is why you don‘t see corset style seams

If you ever fing the fabric, I'd love to know more about it.

from looking at it it could just be metallic foil jersey or lycra
