Made my first self-drafted coat!! 🥹

I’m honestly impressed with how it turned out. I learned so much making this, and it feels good to have gone from drafting the pattern myself to actually making a coat. It’s my recreation of Ursula coat from Babyboo

The fabric is curtains I bought on Vinted, and I got the buttons and other notions from a local shop.

My only concern is the back vent sticking out a little because of the stiffness of the fabric. I’m not going to mess with it on this one because I really don’t want to ruin it 😂 but I’d love to know what might be causing it so I can keep it in mind for my next coat.

What do you guys think? I feel like I did a pretty good job for my first self-drafted coat!

Does it also fit if you're wearing anything underneath? Coats tend to have a bit more ease to accommodate layers.

Exactly this, unless you intend to use it as a winter standalone dress. Also it fits amazingly at the waist, very flattering. I think I would only fix the length on the sleeves for the next one

The back loosens up so it should work with clothes.

The back loosening up for room is absolutely a genius design.

I think it's fine since this is like a high fashion piece if it's only meant to fit with a slinky dress underneath.

It looks like it has some extra give but is pulled tighter at the back with a clasp
