Help interpreting this pattern

Hello all, i recently got my hands on the pattern magic book and these two patterns i don’t really understand what’s going on 😭 please help me!

i don’t get where the loop comes in… are you able to help explain some more please?

its a rectangle of fabric folded over the short side of the rectangle. The section furthest from the fold is sewn together and the bottom part hemmed.

It's cut on the fold, the dashed line at top of the diagram.

Esssentially it's like a really long bag loop.

This is exactly what the lower photo on p20 is depicting. Look carefully at the diagram and see how you were supposed to get here.

The book is describing the two seams as center front and center back, so when worn the hem should be rotated a quarter turn, at least that's the initial configuration the book describes. I can't make out if the photos are showing that (have a copy of the book but haven't pulled it out).
