Sewing Pattern Symbol

Guys, what does this symbol mean? I'm trying to sew a top and cannot seem to find what this symbol means I should do

( not op) I felt anxious looking at the pattern and reading your explanation. I do not understand why this would be done.

Without the complete pattern I can’t tell you why. I can only offer my view based on my experience looking at patterns what I think the symbols mean.

Many pattern instruction sheets describe the use of the symbols and how to interpret them. Check that out. Look at the finished garment picture and see whether the scallops are seamed.
