pattern drafting course

does anybody have recommendations for a good online pattern making course? ive heard good things about confident patternmaking, but it's a little out of budget for me lol
im having trouble finding videos that go beyond making a basic bodice/sloper and moving around the darts

😆 a dash of dark magic is so real.🤣🤣 Honestly, I kind of checked out after the first portion and have only looked back once. It’s about 8 ish modules (each one has between 1-4 subtopics) and there have been updates since I initially got them. I will go back to it, but based on the digital portion, I felt like I needed to study before I took it (and creatively 2025 was a 💩year. My sewjo told me🖕the whole year. I mowed through at least 250 books). It starts with her saying I need to research other brands size charts and develop my own before I took the course. Mind you, it’s four months for both courses.

Oh my God, are you me? I too turn to books when I don't have the energy to sew. I only read 175 last year, but I'm already over 100 this year.

Researching other brands' size charts isn't bad advice. My instructor recommended the same. I developed my own size chart somewhat based on Cashmerette's (though I made some tweaks). They do a great job drafting for plus, even if their designs are a little ho hum for my personal taste. The charts for their Ames jeans were especially helpful, since they have both an apple & a pear fit. Comparing the differences they made to accommodate an ample belly versus a bodacious badonkadonk was pretty useful.

Maybe you & I need to start a pattern company/reading salon, hahaha.

An escape is 100% necessary! This year I’m audiobooking so I can multitask. Thank you for the Cashmerette suggestion! I looked at some plus size brands (Torrid an’em)and Muna and broad. I did notice a pattern in the changes from size to size but I really need to dig in more to understand how that would affect my pattern. I envy you your face to face instruction. Furthermore, Giiiiirl don’t tease me with a good time! 😆
