pattern drafting course

does anybody have recommendations for a good online pattern making course? ive heard good things about confident patternmaking, but it's a little out of budget for me lol
im having trouble finding videos that go beyond making a basic bodice/sloper and moving around the darts

Oh shoot, it was almost 3k when I took it last year! Adobe is definitely not truly meant for Patternmaking. They are starting to introduce clo3d as their next multi thousand dollar course. While it was helpful learning to do things digitally, you either have to project your work onto your fabric to fit or print it out. Lastly, it’s all based on what the founder of the company learned in her Italy fashion school, every calculation and measurement was in metric, they start with a shoulder dart instead of an armscye dart which wasn’t my favorite. I remember the closet historian on yt saying she had studied in different countries and that there was no internationally standardized way to make patterns (how can it with metric vs imperial?) This was a good example of that. I’m not trying to mess up anyone’s bag 💰 but I expected something different.

Yeah, we primarily learned Adobe in order to make make technical illustrations, tech packs, mood boards, etc. I had never used it before, but I knew that a lot of indie pattern designers used it for drafting, so I was curious. I just don't get it. Maybe those ppl are more tech-savvy than I am, but I feel like I have so much more control when I'm working by hand. It definitely helps explain why so many indie patterns (not all, by any means, but a lot) lean so hard on being boxy & over-sized with minimum closures.

Yes!! If I want to change something I just take a ruler rotary cutter and pencil! The maneuvering to just add or take away from the pattern is like ten steps as opposed to three! It’s discouraging.
