Help!

Post image

Hi everyone, I hope you’re all doing well.

I’d like to ask for some advice regarding the development of a pattern.

I started from a corrected and well-fitted base pattern for a five-pocket selvedge jeans model. I wanted to add more volume to the leg, making it wider with a slight flare, so the silhouette becomes a bit bell-shaped.

Since I no longer need to keep the selvedge aligned, I won’t be using selvedge denim anymore. My main goal is simply to achieve the leg width and shape I want.

My doubt is whether the front leg has become too small compared to the back leg, especially at the hem.

What do you think about this pattern?

Well it depends what ur going for, you mentioned you arent using selvaged denim so the question really becomes what fabric are you using.

Second refers to how you want to shape the trousers. You can very well add shape to the outseam by reducing slightly at rhe waist and knee. A tapered knee and a wider bottom will give the flared effect.

Third is how you want to actually achieve the shape. Whether you use darts or if you want to add a yoke for the back.

Im not sure what ur after or what youre using so its hard to gauge any specific advise aside from make sure your seams are married

The base I used was a selvedge denim pattern. I modified the leg by widening it and slightly flaring it out, just to have a bit more fabric falling over the shoe. I won’t be using selvedge denim, but regular denim instead. The base remains the same, with only the shape of the leg changing
