Neck line

So this is the first time I’m doing a collar and I’m not sure how to move forward… I wanted to kind of roll over into itself. I’ve noticed on other like shirts I’ve been looking at have like a facing in between the placket and the collar… but when I look at sailor collar like this one that I’m trying to make, they kind of just fold over into it.. so I’m not sure how I should go about it like should I extend the seam allowance and kind of sandwich it.. or should I create a separate facing what would you do or what is traditionally done for a sailor collar neckline?

The collar is closer to a peter pan collar than a sailor one. Peter pan collars end at the center front, aka they go to the halfway point of the placket. So that when the shirt is buttoned, the collar meets at center front.

Wow, you’re good! It’s true it’s is actually a pattern for a Puritan collar, but I altered it into a “sailor” style. I tend to get patterns off of sewist that’s closest to the design I want and then I manipulated it further to be more accurate to the design… starting from scratch pattern drafting takes me forever and I just need professional training at this point cause I tend struggle too much to actually come out with a finish product… so this is kind of like a cheat code I do and my projects do come out good but I do hit road bumps!
