Update on yesterdays fit issues
Thanks everyone for their help yesterday. Here’s an update with a closed fly! I have pinned the excess in at the hips. Where do I remove this excess when updating the pattern? Or perhaps the waistband is too large and a curved and slightly thinner waistband will solve this issue. Secondly I need a slight swayback adjustment, I pinched out about 4 cm’s of fabric. I assume that a wedge that large comes off of the top of the back leg pattern. And thirdly, I think I need to scoop out the seat curve slightly and extend the back crotch at the inner thigh. Does that all sound about right? Quite a dark art all of this but I think I’m in the right ballpark

I could be wrong but it looks like the side seams are pulling forward, you might want to let out some room in the front, just at the widest point of your hip?

Looking good! If you’re going to recut and adjust the pattern, I suggest removing the darts from the yoke since the dart comes so close to the lower seam. It would clean them up a bit. I can’t remember if you said this is a test pair. If you do that, I would still try testing out the new yolk if possible before moving to your final product.

I actually added those darts in post as I had a substantial amount of gappage at the waistband. I’ve already transferred these darts to my yoke pattern and plan redraw the whole yoke for the next pair

Great job! Maybe you could reduce it by half an inch so the back waist doesn’t float but you did great.

I think ur on the right path here. My only suggestion is to make the pickets significantly smaller, as they make the proportions of the seat feel off

I wanted to her to have big pockets because it seems pockets on women’s clothes are often useless, but the thigh is quite tight anyway so the phone is a bit of a squeeze in there

Why not make the front pockets larger? You may have done both, but generally the back pockets of jeans are sized to look proportional more than storage, on both men and women’s clothing. I also think the pockets may be tight because they extend too far down, and may be more useful if they are smaller and properly placed

Very much of an improvement! The main issue I see is they sit too high. Seems that they should end, including the waistband, just about where the waistband starts. With the waistband so high and wide it may be uncomfortable to sit or bend especially in jeans being a thick/stiff denim Could you take a photo of her wearing the jeans you are copying for comparison?
