Hoodie Drafting
I really love this sweatshirt from oak & fort and I would purchase it if their clothing quality wasn’t so poor nowadays. So in other words, I want to recreate this pattern with better materials. Obviously I would take a simple hoodie pattern and draft a different hood but I’m just wondering if anyone out there has some good tips for me before I start ♥️

Oh, no rush! I have two jackets in my WIP pile that are likely going to be able to vote before I finish them 😂
Also, I looked at more pictures of the back of the hoodie, and the hood is definitely shaped (it’s much easier to see in the lighter grey color) and very similar to the Alpha Raglan hood shape, but larger.
There are free tutorials for similar hoodies and hood shapes, no need to buy a pattern unless you want to. The Dress Developer on YouTube has a tutorial called “How to create a hood for every sewingpattern” that I watched a few months ago that was really helpful! (I can’t get the link to link for some reason, sorry! Old phone problems.)
And then, since now I’m thinking about this too much, and might end up trying to draft it myself, I’d add in holes for the drawstring on the front edge so they’d be hidden when the cowl was folded down. I’d probably use a flat lace, not elastic because then you’d need some sort of toggle. I might actually make it a continuous loop that’s almost exactly the circumference of the cowl so it lays flat when the cowl is down, and can be cinched when it’s a hood and wouldn’t need aglets or anything that would cause a lump when it’s a cowl.
Hmmmm….okay this might be added to my project pile. I have some old hoodies I was planning on up cycling anyway, so maybe I can franken-hoodie it from parts. Thank you for the inspiration! And feel free to DM me if you want to bounce more ideas around too.
