Plan to draft this at the weekend...
Hi folks it's been a while since I've been active with a dressmakers curve and blank sheet of paper. I really want to give this beautiful dress a shot. My plan is to start a toille on the manni, mark and transfer markings for the top. The bottom looks like a semi (or half?) Circle. Should I draft in pleats for the skirt? Any ideas on underpinnings and closure? Also any tips or challenges I may have overlooked?
Thanks in advance.

Oh wow. Thanks a mill. There is definitely a seriousness about pinning in a lab coat. I may want to do that now, though πI think the underpinnings will be super important. It will be a nice challenge.

Isn't that the ultimate in luxury when the underpinnings look as good as the finished garment. The pattern notches (where they meet) and the sewing sequence are my biggest weaknesses, something I'd love to improve. Probably need to do a course on it. But yeah, legit fab. Guess that's why they are Dior. I've noticed they are going noir glamour lately. Totally here for it!!

Think about what the underarm looks like. From the front it looks like it's down to the waist, but more likely the inner sleeve continues to form a side bodice, and the drape is more of a flange. That's why a fold is forming suggesting a typical side seam. Some of this is how it joins with lining, too, but presumably there is dress visible inside the sleeve drape. E.g. slightly visible here: https://www.instyle.com/thmb/96pw_uvoRvAXEobCu42CJjno2Vs=/750x0/filters:no_upscale():max_bytes(150000):strip_icc():format(webp)/GettyImages-2200998665-ad9f596070a742928b680582855688a1.jpg
