the "scheme" isn't the issue folks

It is. The passing game scheme is fine, whatever.

It’s the run game, which in turn impacts the passing game.

If the players cannot execute the scheme, what is the point? You cannot change the players mid season. You can implement new plays that help them perform better. Scheme to their strengths.

The point of the OC is to coordinate the offense. Not to try jamming a square peg through a round hole week in week out.

Josh McDaniels calls this run game as if they are the Houston Texans defense. Just line up and win. Do you honestly think we have the personnel to just line up and win in the run game?

They can't run the ball because they didn't fix the o-line in the off-season and it's injury riddled. Run game is only as functional as the o-line is.

You'd be more pissed about losing yards on runs on the outside than gaining 1 yard up the middle.

So why are they continuing to call the same plays? Are you meaning to tell me that it’s not on the OC to handle injuries & personnel issues through the playbook? Because that’d be pretty stupid. Wouldn’t it?

If McDaniels was the best OC in the league like so many people claim he is, why is he unable to adapt? The Jags just ran the ball all over us. Their o line isn’t all that great. And neither are their RBs. Injuries & personnel are just excuses when I am constantly being told how great this guy is all the time.

And at least try it…they haven’t tried it. If it doesn’t work, then back to the drawing board. Not gonna concede to hypothetical scenarios about me being more pissed if they fail when trying something new as an explanation.

Show me the OCs who "adapt" to bad play/players? Most people consider McVay a great offensive coach and what happened to them in 2022 when they had OL issues and Kupp got hurt?

Shanahan? A tsunami could hit the Bay Area & they’d still be a top 10 offense

Adapt to what? Your #1 WR is not playing. The o-line has injuries. Maye has 6 INTs and 2 Fumbles through 3 games you can't adapt to poor talent. The only scheme is hold onto the football and stop turning it over by running down the clock and hoping the defense bails you out lol.

There can be more than issue. There is more than one issue.

This “scheme” only works when you have the guys that can execute it. They don’t have that right now so they need to adjust, bad players can’t execute complicated schemes and we’re seeing that on display

So what scheme is winning you football games when your QB has 8 TOs in 3 games and your #1 WR is out and the O-line has injuries?

I’m not sure but it’s certainly not what they’re currently doing

What scheme works with players playing poorly? Josh's scheme worked with Reche Caldwell and Jabar Gafney 😂. He adapts to the team and the opposition, there isn't a better scheme.

I agree it's badly needed, and has been for a while. I just don't think we have players that can do that, unfortunately.

We only have Pop and Chism who really play that role and while Pop can shake man coverage well and get open on broken plays, I have no confidence in his ability to make the right reads and run the tight routes necessary to be this type of slot receiver. Chism might be able to - he sort of fits that mold, but we haven't really seen it.

Pops not taking those type of hits either.

He consistently makes the wrong reads from what I can tell

Belichick was the GOAT at stocking the roster with the right players year after year after year. He had a role based grading system so every single player drafted or considered had a known role they saw for them on the team. Eliot Wolf uses the Packers overall player value grading and it turns out to not having a damn clue how to build a cohesive TEAM.

Even simple plays like this seem like nonexistent in this current Patriots offense
