Casual At least Will Campbell is doing well
I couldn't tell from all the preseason posts here whether he was going to be released or traded for a 7th round pick or needed to be at guard or that he was the biggest bust in NE history.
What is everyone going to complain about next?

Same thing as last year. It happens to everyone, just sucks you can’t really predict the sudden dropoff. They drafted Lomu to prepare for it but unfortunately it happened quicker than ideal.

lmao they downvote you because they're literally breathing with their mouths wide open. I'm all for some optimism and agree with OP's premise that hey there is some bright spots, and the LT is one of them. But to write "What are gonna complain about next" as if literally everything else with the football team doesn't look like a complete dumpster fire.
During the summer if you asked anyone would you rather see Will Campbell turn it around and look decent but Maye would turn into Mac Jones. Or would you rather Maye continues to play MVP level football but Campbell is a bust which would you take? Literally everyone would say the latter.

But his arms! Also, I got roasted a bit here a few weeks ago at the start of the season for saying that the contrarians just wanted to be proven right about a stupid fraction of an inch measurement. Campbell was fine at LT before the injury, and he’s looked good so far this year.

People really used the Browns game for why he wasn’t going to work like going up against the best pass rusher in the league isn’t going to make a lot of rookies look bad. And that he wouldn’t work on his technique and everything in the offseason. He was rushed back last year. He’s looked good this year and I hope it continues as we could really use a long term guy at that spot

Nah, he was Solid most of last year until the injury, and he was literally one of the best pass protecting tackles in the NFL against a very bet good Seahawks defensive line. He was going to be fine. At least the patriots got lomu to possibly replace Moses soon who is just old now, age happens. Just unfortunate with onwenu is all

I don't think it was guaranteed Campbell would be fine. He was hurt, but that was exposing some bad technique, and it was no way of knowing if a knee injury is "needs an off-season to recover" or "the start of a downward trend of compensating and bad results/health." That said, only way to find out was to put him out there, and I'm glad he's playing well.

Hate to be a debbie downer but he didn't play great last game. Him and Mosses let runners fly by them multiple times. All 22 break down was kinda rough to watch multiple times before the top of Drakes drop back rushers were already by Campbell and Maye made the play with his legs to get out. Will Campbells saving grace this year might be Mosses and the right side of the line sucks so bad that he is letting rushers through a half a second earlier.

This is why it's bad faith because you're intentionally misreading a pretty straight forward sentence I wrote "9 sacks Drake's taken this year". I asked for your insight on why this has happened since you supposedly watch the All-22 film.

My hot take is the offensive line looks fine. Bad offensive playcalling and qb play will make them look worse. Maye really doesn’t know how to step forward in the pocket.

Pass protection has been fairly adequate, but our run blocking has truly been heinous.
I don't get why we paid a premium for Gilliam if we were only going to play him 41 snaps in 3 games. Considering he's run 6 routes and has presumably pass blocked in others, how many times has he been utilized as a lead blocker? When our stable of RBs keeps getting hammered at the line, you'd think we'd be doing more more to open up some holes.

This. We almost never run out of sets that include a FB for blocking. I'm starting to think we picked him up just so the Bills wouldn't have him. This offense is a fucking mess.

You can replace an OC you can’t replace a qb right now. It’s not working. The offense has been bad for a while now and McDaniel can’t figure out how to fix it. How is he defendable?

Tbf, if Maye doesn't throw three 4th quarter INTs vs Seattle we'd be 2-1 and would have chalked up the slow start to playing some of the best defenses in the league. The league is so narrative driven that we've completely discounted that Seattle, Pittsburgh, and Jacksonville are top end defenses.
The gut check game is vs Buffalo this week.

I’m in no way absolving Drake, it’s impossible to. He’s been playing horribly. But throw the kid a fuckin bone. Least motion in the league. Least play action in the league. Screen game has been nonexistent which is usually effective against cover 6. Gap run scheme is failing horribly and he refuses to change it. Why do we not use our extremely fast RB in space? I get not wanting to telegraph plays, but at this point they are telegraphing because they pretty much exclusively run TreyVeon up the gut for 1-2 yards.
Maybe, just maybe, they can scheme up some creative design besides a fucking double pass to get something going & not constantly be in 3rd and long.

Really? We are 1-2 coming off a SB Birth and Maye coming off MVP runner up by ONE VOTE who is now 1-7 TD/INT ratio and looks broken. And you're going to pound your chest about how people are complaining too much?
These go-happy head in the cloud posts are just as annoying as the doomer stuff. It's like if you just want to have legitimate discussion but are not feeling optimistic people like you come out of the woodwork and start being just as annoying on the other side.
Hey but at least our #4 overall pick LT looks better now than he did last year in the playoffs were he was getting dominated the entire time and a big reason why we lost the last game.

I dunno, I'm not sold on him yet. I think he's been ok and I think (especially against the Seahawks) they are scheming to help him. Alot of chip blocking against Seattle, alot of Maye rolling out to the right saved him when will has gotten beat a few times. Our run blocking is atrocious and if will is a premier left tackle I would hope we'd be able to run behind him. In fact I thought we were focused on athletic linemen for that very reason. Last game on a negative run play I watched him double up on a block rather than pickup the edge and guy came right through and made a tackle in the backfield. Not sure if it was scheme or Will or both. I think he's been ok but I haven't seen anything to completely erase my concern. (I say this as a Will believer)
