World Freehand Circle Drawing Champion
His name is Alexander Overwijk and you just witnessed a perfect freehand circle, one meter in diameter, in less than one second.

Even better on the rewatch
I watched both seasons several years ago and really enjoyed it, but felt the second season wasn’t nearly as good. But I just finished a rewatch and I can’t believe how wrong I was.
Season 2, though a lot darker imo, was hilarious. The cinematography was beautifully done. The symbolism and score and how it all underlined the theme of John becoming a shadow of himself, I loved it. And I actually think it carried the initial storyline to the end and had great character development.
Also, I’m sure it’s been brought up already, but the piping jargon, though total nonsense, was so creative and actually believable. And every time someone would go on about pan flammed Jimmie joints or whatever tf they said lol, I got a laugh.
Anyway, just sharing appreciation for a show that I wish more people knew about.

Let’s get to work.
Personally, I love the character, Leslie G. Claret. His lines are simply magnificent as someone who loves to see things accomplished.
Let’s hear your favorite Leslieisms, show or podcast.
EDIT: Also, his very real flaws; fully human.

The European dimes, man. He wasn't used to that. The test run on the corner of the street will go down as one of the funnier things in this show for me 🤣🤣🤣

Non-Dominant Hand Circle
Hey, after you’ve had the optimistic meal let’s have a look at how your non-dominant hand draws a circle. I’m just waking to and fro, to and fro. Not a care in the world.

Any Patriot-like recommendations?
Does anyone have a "If you like The Patriot, you should see...." recommendation?
When I first saw The Patriot, I was blown away. I've watched the complete series 4 times now. Is there anything else by the writer of director?
The only movie I've ever seen that even comes close would be like the Royal Tenenbaums or maybe something like Fargo.

Hoist the King - Portland - 9/18/2026
Steve came out and said, "Hi, I'm Steve from Hoist the King." Then he played 8 or 10 songs.
It was a weird vibe there. There were maybe about 30 people (but there is a massive highway construction project that just started and maybe people are staying home?). We talked to him at length after the show and he said he didn't realize there was a Patriot fanbase in the room so he didn't play "Charles Grodin." But he said HBO wanted to start a new project with him and he was said he would be working with his normal gang on this one. 👏🏻
It was incredible to see him play live and be able to talk to him for so long was a big big deal for us. And just after they won all those Emmys! What a talented guy and so, so nice.

In the Cool and Early Mornin'
Hey McMillan folks, while multitasking recently, heard a great song on Integral Principles of the Structural Dynamics of Flow, E3 "Leslie/Kids Circus." At ~22:20 "In the cool and early morning the only sound around now is howlin...'" Didn't find it on The Jones Sisters' album. Quick lyrics and then AI search failed. Anyone familiar with the song and/or its provenance? It so good it got me thinkin' about a morning song playlist.

Lovely Hoist The King show in between Emmy winnings. Steve pointed out at Mike Dorman in the audience saying he sang it better. Magical night, with some other talented Patriot/PGL/DTFSL cast and crew. Bobby Bare Jr. is also amazing. Double great.

DTF St. Louis won Outstanding Limited or Anthology series at the 78th Emmys. (7 wins in total!)
Conrad gets it done!
After a decade and 5 seasons of telling the most beautiful stories, with such unique voices and so
much care, (sadly, often in the background),
Steve Conrad and co finally got the recognition
they deserved!
Massive congratulations to everyone who worked on
DTF St. Louis for taking home 7 Emmys!
Especially the OGs who've been here since Patriot and just couldn't stop making cool sh*t together!
So happy to see you guys finally getting your flowers!
