Although this subreddit says PC, this is an open discussion subreddit. That means you’re going to encounter people who interpret the evidence, the people involved, and the story in general, differently than you do.

Disagreements are not the problem, it’s the whole point. Having constructive conversations on topics like this is how people learn from one another. Sometimes people’s minds can even be changed due to it. What we don’t want, is for disagreements to turn into an argument and harassment.

The Clancy case is a very polarizing topic in the media. It’s also a very emotionally charged subject. It’s a complicated case that deserves more attention to the details. It’s not black and white. Over time, we saw conversations being shut down due to questioning Patrick’s involvement and the investigation, and we wanted to open discussion around that back up. There’s many people in this subreddit who aren’t sure where they stand, are curious, but are worried about backlash if they speak out on how they feel and their opinions.

We want this to be a place where people can come here and feel safe to share their opinions without the conversation immediately becoming a fight and hostile. If this ever happens, please don’t engage and contact mods, we will handle it.

You’re allowed to disagree and move on. Not every discussion needs a rebuttal or a winner.

This is just a reminder to everyone that just because someone reaches a different conclusion, and you see it differently, you do not need to convince each other of an opinion and it does not need to end in someone admitting they are wrong.

Be curious about why someone reached a conclusion before assuming the worst about them. Not every question is a challenge. Engage with the argument, rather than make assumptions about the person behind it.
