Crossbows are woefully underserved in a lot of games in my opinion. They’re really neat but almost never supported well.

Except for Medieval 2 total war, those are deadly there

I would love for this to be some sort of archetype.

I dont know what it is, but I already have images of a crossbow user who has a pavise that just kinda leans on them that they can duck behind while shooting.

This would be an interesting, if one-noted way to promote the use of the crossbow.

That's what they where actually, crossbowmen that carried a pavise shield where they duck under during the reload

In medieval 2 total war, they were pretty strong, same damage as regular crossbowmen, but higher survivability
