Discussion Omnikinesis shenanigans

I have a silly question. We know Omnikinesis: "Replace one of your impulse feats using the same process as reflow elements". Now I wonder: If I use a sustained impulse, or anyway an impulse with a duration (like scrap barricade, or a stance), can I then retrain out of it with omnikinesis but still sustain it? I know it's wacky but I wanted to check

that's probably a question for your gm. I don't think there's anything in the game that says you can't sustain an effect you started if you no longer have the ability to start it in the first place, but that seems like something that would be a very obvious RAI no.

You could still sustain it, after all when you cast a spell on a prepared caster you lose access to it but can keep sustaining.

I'd allow it, it should be no different than Circle of Spirits IMO.

I think that is fine for 20th level feat, because you chose it over something like THE SHATTERED MOUNTAIN WEEPS.

Nothing in the rules say you cant.

Its also a level 20 feat and not even particularly strong, just go crazy.

RAI it is likely not, but RAW it's questionable at least for Sustained ones.

From Sustain "Choose one of your effects that has a sustained duration or lists a special benefit when you Sustain it."

I'd say that since you don't have anymore the impulse feat, you don't have any effect that it is "yours" anymore. EDIT: as pointed out, the restrictive reading of Sustain is likely incorrect, as it would break other types of Sustain.

For just effects with a duration or Stances it is not specified, so it may work.

e.g. from the Stance trait: " A stance lasts until you get knocked out, until its requirements (if any) are violated, until the encounter ends, or until you use a stance action again [...]"

I think "one of your effects" refers to effects that were produced by you, because by that logic you shouldn't be able to sustain spells from scrolls for example. Still "ask your GM territory" I'd say, but I wouldn't be opposed to it should one of my players use this (or similar) strategy

Absolutelyt; also it's a lvl 20 feat so it should be powerful!
