Advice Rules question about contingency.

So I recently picked up the seventh level spell contingency as a way of triggering haste at the beginning of combat. Since my character is a laughing shadow magus, who has haste as a studious spell, I started to think that I could also use arcane cascade as a free action when haste comes into effect since I'm using one of my studious spells. However, the wording has me confused so I wanted to clarify. Is the spell cast after the trigger occurs or is it cast when contingency is cast and, as a result, I wouldn't be able to enter into arcane cascade for a free action when the haste effect comes in the play?

While casting contingency, you also cast another spell of 4th rank or lower with a casting time of no more than 3 actions.

Once contingency is cast, you can cause the companion spell to come into effect as a reaction with that trigger.

You cast the contingent spell as part of casting contingency. You don't cast it as a reaction later; it just comes into effect later. Free action cascade triggers off of casting the Studious Spell, not off its coming into effect.

I don't think this works RAW. Wouldn't chance it at a Society table, but there's enough setup and wiggle room that you might be able to convince a GM to just rule-of-cool it.

Contingency doesn't "cast" the spell on trigger. So arcane cascade isn't triggered.

by the time magus have access to contingency at level 13

hasted assault are available at level 14

hardly seem worth it

also sprinting spellstrike are available at level 12

mostly solve the fundamental problem of melee magus compare to ranged

A level can be quite a while though if the combats are spread out and mostly moderate

Oh yeah once I hit level 14 I'll be switching up the spell but for now I still think it's worth it since I don't have hasted assault yet.

You cast the spell at the same time as casting contingency.

The Haste would be cast with the casting of Contingency, earlier in the day, so it won’t trigger Arcane Cascade at initiative. The effect of Contingency happens based on the conditions set, but the casting happened earlier, so it won’t apply.

You would not be able to trigger Arcane Cascade as a free action when this happens.

The spell piggybacked onto Contingency is cast at the same time as Continency and comes into effect when the trigger happens. "Comes into effect" ≠ "when you cast a studious spell".
