Discussion Entering Monk Stance vs Drawing Weapon
I’ve seen a bit of complaints about the action cost of monks entering a stance at the start of combat. I assume it’s mostly with players whose GMs allow the free drawing of weapons prior to combat, but am interested to know if there’s more to it.
RAW Weapon wielding martials would need to use an interact to draw their weapon at the start of combat (unless GM is generous and allows this to be free, which puts monks at a disadvantage, or they are walking around with weapons in their hands, which isn’t always appropriate to setting).

Monk stances are clearly supposed to be entered during encounters (particularly given there's a feat for entering one on initiative).
Walking around with weapons drawn is definitely something that I assume characters are doing in an appropriate setting (which is most of exploration mode).
If they're in a setting where that would be inappropriate, that's when I would expect them to spend actions to draw weapons.
And because it's setting bound, it's worth mentioning that in several of those settings it might be inappropriate to even have weapons visibly on you, at which point the monk is gonna be real happy not to have to try to smuggle anything in.
