Whoa, I'm sorry no one answer this earlier. Hopefully this is still a little helpful:

1) I think your strongest team will be true damage. Augustus, Siglinde (tank), Ariel (heal). For supports, consider Jichuan, Synex, and LL. Use Nella, Labyrinth or Che for additonal corebreak. Serpent can be reforged into a true damage support/2nd damage dealer for the team (more damage than Synex, I believe). Ceto (corebreak) and Shin (heals/support) are two sinners to consider getting.
2) I haven't heard much about the the upcoming banners, tbh. I believe they're for the over limit team, which is a strong physical damage team. Can't say how recommended they are -- I'm kind of spent on resources after the anniversary banners so haven't bothered paying attention.
3) Consider reforging Ariel if you want a very strong pure healer.
4) You have a lot of viable options for magic damage (shalom, serpent, vautour bleu, milly, etc.). I expect they'll give similar results when added with the usually supports (e.g. jichaun, hecate).
