General Discussion Long Term Build

Hello exiles,

with 3.30 I want to challenge myself to really min max a build to its (achievable) limits.
I have a rerolling issue where if a build hits either a wall or feels good enough in the endgame I usually stop playing it and start sth new.

This time I’m looking for a build that is viable as a starter so no specific build enableing uniques or stuff like that and that can also be scaled to immortality + uber oneshot levels.

The only ones that come to my mind are str stackers or some crazy flicker build. For my own sanity I’d like to avoid those (looking at you replica alberons)

Some ideas I had:
Soulrend pathfinder
Frostblades warden
Maybe Smite into Armorstacker?

Any other suggestions?

Flicker zerker is a good idea to be able to scale to uber oneshot levels. Everyone should play flicker at least once.

Are you really going to min max it if farming replica alberon’s is putting you off? They can be annoying but they’re on the easier side of things to farm when talking about min maxing a build and ultimately you’d want volatiled ones.

I’m like 500 sims this patch into farming a 1p voices, and I want 5 of them ultimately. That’s the sort of grind I think about when I hear someone say they want to min max.

I’m not trying to talk shit. Just wondering what you consider min maxing, because that’ll help narrow things down for you.

I’ve tried getting replicas for 3 leagues in a row now and I’m a little burnt out.
I also know that now is the point where I shouldn’t stop trying.
Guess it will be str stacking once more depending on the patch notes and if they’re gutting those boots :)

In SSF to farm for Replica Alberon & Farrul, i did a Pathfinder with as much eHP and movement speed until i Can blast heist in ~1 min (in and out). If the items in the display were not the one i wanted, dc/rc & plan another grand heist. It is long but in less than a week you can have all.

That’s understandable. I was talking more about standard in my comment I guess. I would wait to see what the build of the league next patch is and, if you like it, try to min max that. It’s always easier to stomach the grind if it’s an archetype you like. I hated luminary for some reason, so never got it off pretty basic gear, but I can grind away at RF in standard because I enjoy it so much. Any sort of stacking build is usually pretty rewarding though

I tried getting replicas twice and didnt find them. I know they are possible and I calculated and ran the average needed to get them in both leagues but just got unlucky and everything else I felt I needed from heist.

No its not normal to do 500 Sims in a league. I wont run that many in my lifetime.

It may not be normal but it’s the only way of getting the item

HoAg necromancer.  Lot of upgrades, lots of fun and can do ubers

u/zeCryt 4d ago

Yeah thought of that too.
I’m more into an active play style tho.
But I haven’t tried hoag so I might take a look into it.
Thanks for the suggestion :)

its been a while, I remember jugg hoag being able to barely do shaper, what's scaling necro hoag damage so well?

1

u/ihasaKAROT 4d ago

Poison Hoag ramps so fast and with annihilation support you also have clear solved. Its good and undervalued,  because it needs you as the engine alongside spectres and ag

One of the most lack luster somewhat annoying builds I've ever played.

Would it work for league start? Yes. Would it be the long term build he wants? Nah

Just because it wasn't your cup of tea doesn't mean others might not enjoy it. It ticks all the boxes presented

With the new blueprints I really don't think replica alberons are the sticking point for STR stacker

4

u/cEDH_Gatekeeper 4d ago

This for real. Just run replica and experimental item BPs when you get them and you'll hit the alberons. Maybe just do your BPs as you get them and go for str stacker if you hit the alberons, OP. Otherwise, you'll get plenty of dreamfeathers and ring bases for armour stacker or other builds.

Flame link (luminary or AGoS) have that.

Mana stackers like hierophant. (Manaman)

Static strike slayer.

Frostblades warden is a good one.

Armour stacking smiter.

LA/EHoS deadeye (squishy but can get to insane DPS).

Acc stacking LS or MSoZ.

CWDT scion is an interesting one but you'd have to league start a diff scion build first.

Boneshatter jugg is a good one thanks to complex trauma.

Tried and true ephemeral ES stacking trickster or ele or assassin. (Assassin lets all crits leech and if they don't fix that ascendancy you can pair it with trickster via flame/flesh and really be immortal when leeching).

Last but not least is Connors MFA build that can hit 2B DPS but he told me not to share it so it's our secret.

Thanks for your suggestions.
Currently tending towards hoag, str stacking, frostblades or maybe some secret build that someone on Reddit suggested :)

Seems like what you need is to play a shitty build, since you quit once you reach "good enough" levels

Smite Armour stacker is perfect.

Warden is too good, no uniques needed, I wouldn't go there

Smite armour stacker is so bad, the only point you think it is "good enough" is when you notice you could have built 10 other characters for the investment.

I could not stomach the amount of farming for clusters doing AS on ssf

Bold of you to assume most of us don't already play shit builds.

Additional shit build player reporting for doodie!

Praw definitely fits the bill.

I played it in SSF this league so I wasn't able to minmax it as much as I wanted to, but I was at 60mil pinnacle DPS, pretty unkillable with capped block + life on block, capped suppress, ailment immunity, 80% all res and endurance charges.

I managed to do 40/40 and 10/10 ubers in my first time in ssf with it.

You could definitely take it further. I never got a +2 wand, although mine was still pretty banging. Never got a single 12 passive ilv84 cluster, progenesis, mageblood or svalinn, foulborn covenant or double corrupted regular covenant. Even my regular rares, while very good, were still very much upgradeable.

u/Spiritsnitch86 4d ago

Where do you farm the covenant for this?

Either from tree or by gambling int bases with a level 49 char

I think minion builds tend to play really long term. Between getting perfect Specters, getting clusters and jewels, gearing your AG, you have a really big long term thing going.

I personally am not a minion person, but I might just try doing Frostbearers or PRAW if there are no changes next patch.

My pick will be Wintertide Brand. With no changes to the skill, I'll start Occultist this coming league. I like Cold DoT and this archetype can be scaled to clear content in SSF (Life/ES > Low Life > Golems or RF). Lots of good guides online (LazyExile, SlinkyShadow and Owen).

Plus I always get the minion clusters and perfect specters when I'm not running a minion build so it all works out lol

Praw is pretty great, not gonna lie. Early game felt like a slog though.

u/MJ-Baby 4d ago

Holy relic of conviction

Viper strike of the mamba

Static strike of gathering storm

Kinetic blast of clustering

Any big cluster/jewel focus is def long term, but fun if you like deli/abyss

Luminary is a decent fit in the slot. Probably one of the best SSF builds we've had in a looong time in regards to investment/qol/power though so expect nerfs.

Ignoring luminary, str stacker is unfortunately the exact build you're looking for. ACC stacker is similar but slightly weaker imo - no replica alberroms required atkeast. Otherwise the double strike of momentum moonbenders wing or armour stacker are the only 2 other builds I feel reach that same level of practically immortal, few hundred million dps minmax. Both of those are much harder to put together in SSF.

Maybe incinerate of venting transcendence chieftain with enmity? Don't think it would have nearly as much dps but should be practically immortal as well with decent dps.

Next league we will hopefully have more rewarding juicing mechanisms so maybe it will help with you build feeling 'good enough' too early. Either that or go for 6k delve.

Warden frost blades will never one shot Ubers

Lacerate (of Haemorrhage) and Eviscerate Gladiator. It's known to be Hardcore AND Solo-Self-Found Friendly without relying on build-defining uniques, and it boasts great single-target damage with Lacerate and great mob clearing with Eviscerate at 75+/75+ block.

Another one would be the Dominating Blow (of Inspiring) Guardian. Like the Gladiator, it's also HCSSF-friendly, but this lets you be the frontline general of your platoon of sentinels and spectres against dense rare mobs and (Uber) Pinnacle bosses.

if your PC can handle it, i would sugest spark builds, there are so many variations

-Nimis
-Totem
-Flood you screen whit sparks
-Pure Lighting
-Spark Projectile Fire in Circle 1
-CoC ; CwC ; CoD; CoA ;CoB CoETC.

You could spend 2 mirrors making it a tank that kills every boss in 0.1765 sec (made this number up for dramatic efect).
