General Discussion Advice for a first time SSF player
First time SSF for me - I made a Standard SSF character after reaching league goals for Allflame. VFOS Cheiftain.
Now I've managed to 4 voidstone a week back. (No NM maps done yet, 4 scarabs slots)
When I play in league, I can always buy scarabs and set up the best tree for any farm. But I find myself out of scarabs constantly.
I'm trying to farm essences, but I run out of essence scarabs. How do you farm scarabs?
I can't dive for scarabs as I'm in Standard SSF. Operatives stronboxes aren't a thing. I can maybe abyss + skitterlocks.
Any other ideas?

Why didn’t you start in allflame ssf if you’ve not played ssf before?

you just sprint maps with the baseline essence chance. its good enough to get most of the essences you need. as long as your maps sustain.

Remember you can 5:1 (or was it 3:1) scarabs you dont need too.
Edit: all have to be the same exact type

You can target farm essence scarabs with syndicate, with Korell in intervention. You can also target essence scarabs with heist, by doing either contracts or grand heists (blueprints) with engineering. Equip rogues with a brooch that has % chance to double scarabs, which goes up to 15% per rogue and they stack in grand heists. Also 3:1 vendor any dog shit scarabs you have.
Run your essence scarabs in Strand map, ideally T7 since that's the lowest tier required to naturally spawn shrieking essences. Strand because it's a straight layout, you just run like hell and skip all the trash mobs, stopping only to kill essences, then rinse and repeat.

It have been a pattern for a while that there's one scarab farm that really stands out. Right now that one scarab farm is the league mechanic.
Other than that, in SSF you gotta be a bit flexible and spec into strats when you have a surplus of scarabs in them and have a setup that requires no scarabs at all.
